That is one area that I know NOTHING ABOUT. Folks from New England - North East States, can you pass on great roads, things to see, can't miss places...ya know - GREAT PLACES TO RIDE. Thinking about a ride in the future (maybe early next year) and need some input from people in the know....
Help a brother out if you have something in your neck of the woods that is a MUST SEE - MUST DO. Best roads to get from point A to point B kinda stuff.... A mom and pop hotel or eatery that is your favorite...anything.
Cheers and thanks in advance.

Warren, when ya go up there be sure and take your passport. You will need it to get back to the Cajun states....... There is a link somewhere, I can't put my finger on it right now, that lists all the must ride roads in every state in the Good Old US of A. Maybe someone will pipe in on it....... Found two links, but not the one I'm loking for. these should be very helpful. http://www.openroadjourney.com/http://www.motorcycleroads.com/This one might be it, but I remember a different home page.

Maine has some great food, views and rides. Depends on if you want lighthouses, ocean views, country back roads with no houses for miles. I would be happy and honored to show you around if you can make it up this way. I bet I could even find a bigger "mudbug" for you to eat while your here Sixguns (Rob)

Rt 100 north to south through the center of Vermont. Put that one on the must do list.
The Wells River motel, Wells Revier Vermont, a great little Ma and Pop motel. The big breakfast buffet on Sunday morning in Wells River at the P&H Truck Stop. The best French Toast in the world. From here you can take Rt 302 to Rt 112 which is the Kancamangus Trail through the majestic White Mountains down into North Conway.
Rt 112 from South to North through Western Mass. Don't miss that one.
The BayHaven Seafood restaurant on Rt 25 in Maine just below Conway. The best seafood in the world and LOTS of it. (not fancy andnot expensive)
PS take your leathers and take your rain gear. You can't be a pussy and ride in New England. Come to Laconia NH bike week in mid June.
Lot's of us Valky riders in New England to show you some special sights, and the best little restaurants and diners.

Strider, If your hitting Pa. you gotta do the Old Lincoln Highway! ( route 30) in western Pa. It bisects the state and is some of the best riding and views around. That road also passes right by the flight 93 crash site and memorial in Shanksville ,you don't want to miss that Also there is a biker bar on Rt 30 at the top of Laurel mountain summit ,called Walats, They have a 2 pound baked ham sandwich thats worth the stop.If you need a tour guide, I'm always in , Dino

Whenever I am coming North on a return trip, I have always enjoyed the ride through Lake George up through the Adirondacks, cross lake Champlain on the ferry (1hr and about $6) and enjoy Route 2 through the hills and beautiful scenery of Vermont. (stop at the Ben and Jerry's factory for an ice cream and look out for the moose after dusk on the roads) When you are done there you can visit the White Mountains of New Hampshire (they have some good deals on your stump water) Then make your way to Maine to enjoy a lobster that just came in on a boat from a swim in the big blue pond. There are many harbors to visit, but I would highly recommend Bar Harbor, Acadia park, Schoodic point and while your here a picture at the Eastern most point of the continental US (Quoddy Head Light House) in Lubec would be in order. If you have a passport you could slip accross the border while in Lubec to see Campobello Island the summer home (museum now) of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. I have a personal friend and fellow rider who owns/operates a bed and breakfast in Bar Harbor. You won't find better or more biker friendly people than this place. http://www.aysgarth.com/index.html Sixguns (Rob)

Where to ride in NE New York? Just about any road off the interstate. I've always felt (as a resident) that just about any path you take up here will be rewarding and one of the most fun things to do is just "poke around". In the Adirondack Park area are miles of local, county roads worth exploring. Get off Rt. 87 and take the side road to Saranac Lake, the site of past winter Olympics. If you happen to find yourself in Lake George then I'd suggest Rt. 9N out of the Village north towards Ticonderoga. Great views of Lake George on the right as you travel and a not very straight road to ride. Once you hit Ticonderoga a good place to eat would be "Adams Rib". Owned by a brother biker, the place is a combo Bar/Resturant with good food and huge portions. You may have to loosen your belt when your done. I also suggest one of the Ferrys over Lake Champlain into Vermont. From Vermont you can head over to New Hampshire, and if you do go that far the Mt. Washington road is a MUST DO! The scenery changes as you climb higher will take your breath away and once you make the peak, assuming the weather is clear, you'll be rewarded with a view that you will remember for a lifetime. So many roads, so many of them good choices!

I suggest you pack an electronic device so you can log onto the New England VRCC chapter message board when you travel as we all keep in touch with each other that way around New England. Let us know where you are and where you are headed and you'll either get a detailed set of directions or maybe an escort. If you are in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massacusettes, Vermont, New Hampshire or Maine you won't ever be too far from your VRCC family, so keep in touch. I'm Hoy/scud runner and my patrol area is in central New Hampshire Lakes Region and White Mountains. When you pass through this area and you really MUST just log on our NE VRCC board and post and we'll be around to assist with your travels. Here is a tip, don't plan on riding your Valk up here at the begining of the year because around here we'll have a few feet of snow on the ground and the mountains will still be snow capped through May. Winter is for real up this way and locals own snowmobiles, 4X4 vehicles, skies and snowshoes to get around these parts and usually don't ride motorcycles this time of year.
