First off, I want to thank the great guys of the KS VRCC.  At my last ride, Valkhound noticed my brake fluid was getting a little dark.  I bought a Mighty Vac and changed fluid in the brakes and clutch today.
In process of getting ready to change fluid, I noticed that my dash and radio was coming on and off depending on if the clutch was pulled in or not.  One call to Stud31, got some great ideas of where to look and got it fixed.  Turned out all the fuzes where nasty.  I pulled all of them, got the crap off them and put dielectric grease on all of them.  Problem solved!

Now, this is the fluid out of the front left brake... Yeah, ended up using 2 bottles of fluid through the bike today to get the fluid to come out clear from both front and rear brakes and the clutch.

Yes, there where chunks, yes it was nasty.

If your little windows are yellow, get that crap out of there!  If you need help and are close to central Kansas, look me up.  Always happy to pass on some of the knowledge that I have gained from the VRCC!

Thanks
D.

Yours is a bit clearer than what I inherited.  Undecided

I had picked up a Mighty Vac and some speedbleeders. I found out after the fact that the speedbleeders would not work with the vac due to the SB design. The speedbleeders seemed to work great without. I also had to go through quite a bit of fluid to clean it up.

Got the front brake and clutch done.

Still have to knock out the rear. Any words from the wise for the rear, tips or advise other than the Shop Talk info?

My rear was not near as bad cause the rear caliper had to be replace a year before I got the bike.  But I just took the bag off that side and did it the same way.  Just sucked the fluid through with the mighty vac.  I will say it is strange to see all that clear fluid in the windows, looks like they are empty all the time.

I did notice that the clutch and brakes all grab at the same place, but the lever pull is alot easier than it was before.  Holding the clutch at a stop sign is alot easier on my bad wrist now.

There was so many chunks in it I could not believe.  I now see how the rear caliper got gummed up and locked up on my uncle when he had the bike.
