I didnt see it but last night right after I left work there was a bike crash down the road a bit. It seams that a Jeep driver turned left in front of a bike riden by a couple. The man is in serious condition. I heard from a coworking this morning that his wife died. Neither had helmits on.

So everyone keep your eyes open and make sure you check every intersection you come too. Some are not used to seeing bike as of yet (like it matters, some dont see them any other time of year).  Another cage driver with an acute case of craniamrectumitis. You all be careful out there. Ride like they are out to get you, because they are.........

Saw it on the news this morning. The bike was still impailed in the front of the Jeep. Both were alive as of 0730 this morning. But you know how the news is.

You have no adea how much i wish i was wrong. And yes-they are out to get us. Undecided Embarrassed Cry RIDE SAFE.

Not to mention that the jammer might actually make the situation worse. What happens when your ass crashes and the people trying to call you an ambulance can't do exactly that?

Or when the person in the car next to you gets disconnected and is then distracted?

Every time I hear about these accidents, my heart feels heavy.  Sad

When I ride, in the back of my mind I always expect that other drivers / riders around me will in fact create the conditions for a fatal accident.
EVERYTIME.  Undecided
Therefore, I ALWAYS approach anticipating that others would do something stupid at the last possible moment.  Angry

Even then, there are those drivers who look at motorcycles as if they are bicycles; not to say that bicycle safety is not important.  ???

Careless drivers may not be out to kill you, but by enlarge they do not understand the dynamics of motorcycle riding...  Roll Eyes

Some do not acknowledge a motorcyclist's right to share the road. They invade your space without considering the potential consequences
of their stupid actions.  Shocked

Well, I realize that I am "preaching to the choir."

PLEASE RIDE DEFENSIVELY. RIDE SAFE

Just because the phone doesn't get a signal doesn't mean they can't be writing a text message.  It would also prompt those drivers that use it for streaming music to pick up the dam*ed thing and find out why it quit playing their favorite song, and having been rear-ended on a bike before, I don't want to tip the deck in favor of inattention.

There needs to be severe penalties, not just minor traffic infractions, when these drivers injure or kill.  Mandatory 1 year minimum jail time and loss of driving privileges for 5 years is a start.

Just my opinion...

After I was hit by a left turning bimbo in 1970, I said if I ever get a bike again, I'm making it VERY visible.  On Deerslayer I have a 130/90 modulating headlight, 2 50 watt running lights on the crash bars, and Wagner aircraft landing lights on the forks, wired via relay to come on with the high beam.  I ride with the 50 watt spots on all the time. When I see anyone planning to cross my path, on goes the high beam until I'm past the threat.  The 130 high beam comes on modulating, and the A/C lights with it.  Five blindingly bright lights, headlight pulsing. NO WAY they didn't see me.

I have never had a left-turner incident with these lights - or with the less powerful ones before them, in 15 years.

In this pic you can see one of the small 50 watt spots on the crash bars, and the A/C landing lights.
