WOW!  Is that sort of road obstacle common in that area, or is this a side effect of all the crap-tastic weather ya'll have had lately?

US 129 was shut down for months the last time the mountain gave away....Seems its more common lately just like the tornado's....I-40 at the TN/NC gorge was shut down for months as well a couple years ago.

Once they start clearing away the slide and see what's left then they can make a guesstimate as to how long.

I'm not a geologist and I didn't sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night. Baseing my presumption on previous slides and recovery time.

Good point Paul one good thing about this one it did'nt happen where its all rock and they don't have 100,000 ton of boulders thats big as a house in the road.

I'd say this slide had everything to do with all the rain we've been getting and eroding the slope.  coolsmiley

WHere is the guy in the Cadillac that drove into the boulders, just after the last big slide.

He would have a softer landing this time.

3 days and no more on this one.

No blasting, no rock fences, no major contract to be awarded.

Just one guy on a track hoe and a about 10 dump trucks is all it will take.

Yeah, but once they start removing what has already shifted anything that is being supported is gonna "come on down" and drag other material with it.

One slide like this one on the Foot Hills Parkway, took about 7 years to repair.

They just made the pull off the roadway.

Feds move very slow, unless they want your money, like in taxes.

No Rome trip, the only one that responded was Jess and he said it was weather dependant.

And we know the weather is never dependable.

So that will go in the Bucket List Bucket.

Supposed to be a lot of vintage bikes at that place accordng to Dale Walksler of Wheels Through Time of Maggie Vlley Fame.

Get you some Vicks Vapor Rubb, it is old remedy, but works for me.

That will get you breathing again.

You must have really overdone the work after that storm Joe. Didn't know meds could help fluid on the lungs but modern medicine is great. Beats poking a hole in your side to drain them. Hang in there. Your one of my ffavorite tour guides.  cooldude

Joe, you know what it feels like when the lungs aren't working.  Don't play with this, please.

X2 what Carl said. Some things you just can't ignore, fluid in the lungs is one of those things.

Many times things like this can progress from bad to worse in a very short time.
Take care of yourself Bro.

Fluid will be taken out the normal route.

Vicks just opens up your head so you can maximize the capacity you do have to exchange Oxygen, thereby speeding your recovery.

Works for me when I have the flu.

Glad you getting some rest now at least.
