Hi all,

About two months ago I purchased a 98 Valkyrie tourer. The previous owner had installed a hitch doc without the removable ball. I don't plan to pull anything with my bike and would prefer the look of the bike without the ball hanging off the back. Is there original hardware that I will need to return the bike back to original? If so what do I need?

Thanks for all your help with questions about my bike in the past month.

you'll probably have to replace the 4 side rail bolts if they used longer ones, otherwise they could interfere with the flexing of the tire. you will have to disconnect the trailer wiring if used. that should be about it.

Also ....... be sure NOT to remove all the bolts at same time, it will make life a easier for ya. Using a screw drive in the hole or something similar so as not to let the fender drop out of alignment as you're replacing the bolts.

you are going to need the washers shown in the diagram, plus there are a couple of spacers.

Thanks guys. So I need new bolts spacers and washers. Can I order these from direct line or another vender. What sizes are they if I can't order them and need to go to the hardware store. Can I buy these things at the hardware store (spacers is what they may not have if they are not a standard length).

Thanks for all the info.

I usually find about any metric bolt I need at Ace hardware.  They even have chrome metric bolts, nuts, acorn nuts, etc.

If I remember correctly item 10 bolt is a fine pitch thread (metric) that is NOT easy to find.

I have a Hitch Doc hitch and the bushings between the hitch and the saddle bag mounts are supposed to be the stock bushings. You have to use them when you install the hitch. It only comes with the ones that are used between the fender rails and the hitch.

Yes I would sell it for a fair price. What I really want to do is trade for a set of aftermarked saddlebag rails that look like the hondline ones. I would even be willing to make up the difference in cash.

Thanks guys for all the help. I took the hitch off and put it back together. Without your help and wisdom I suspect it may not have gone as smoothly.
