New Avons...

A BIG thanks to all that have posted about tires for the past year or so. After doing a good bit of research on this site, I decided on the Avon Venoms. I've gone thru 2 sets of Metz already. These Avon Venom's are unfrigginbelievable! Wow... hard to put into works, but I can't believe the difference these tires make. And no, I'm not employed by Avon or getting anything from this post. I'm just a dude that rides a 99 Standard. Avon Venoms, great choice if you are looking for tires.

and the Avon's respond. I had trouble with the rear cupping on all brands. I an now using a Bridgestone Potenza car tire on the rear. 205-60-16. Still run an Avon on the front.

The Avon Venoms are pretty awsome tires. I first tried em on my VTX and WOW what a difference. Had to put em on the Valk as well. However, that being said, be careful about buying NEW Avon Venom tires and check the tire "born on date" to make sure you are getting newer Venoms (if you can still find any). Old tires are not that good an idea. Avon has discontinued those and now has Cobra's, which are the replacement for the Venoms and also have great reviews.

Hey Thunderbolt, which Potenza are you running? I am guessing that you did the nut cage mod.

Put Avon Cobras on last April. Only got 4k miles on em when the rear developed a seperation. Had a slight bulge in the tread surface area. We were on the way home from a 220 mile day when I noticed a slight bump. Took the tire off and carried it to the local shop. Put it on the stand and found about a 4 inch bulge. Went to the Bridgestone Potenza g109 grid and haven't had a moments problem. Still have the Cobra up front with about 10k on it.
