Whats up with this weather?

Friday I got 550 miles on the valkyrie. I left at 7:30am 40° and got to Las Cruces and it was over 80°. Came home and it was still over 70° here in Albuquerque. Today its overcast and it is supposed to rain. Tomorrow it supposed to get up to 40° with Rain / Snow Showers.

Lol, glad you were able to get a nice ride in before the weather went wacky again.  it's been kind of like that here in east tennessee too.

I know what you're saying. I was down in the Roswell/Artesia area earlier in the week. The weather was perfect up through yesterday. Even did a nice dinner ride with some folks Friday night. T-shirt ridin weather. 

On my return trip from down south I finally got to eat at Bobcat Bites. A fairly decent wait, even for a single seater.

Nice juicy burger, very filling.



Hey Chuck, if you're bored you can come on up and help with a rear wheel pull/exchange and rear end maint! 

I will warn you, it's still dry, so far, but the wind is blowing off and on like a mofo. Going to try to grill a tri-tip in a few hours.

I don't know about the weather. I do know that my winter hobby (snowmobiling) sucked this year. The one, yes, ONE time I got to go was great, but it was only one trip this year. Got to go for 4 or 5 days but that was it. One trip. Winter was disappointing.

I hope that summer continues this winter trend of overly warm and no precip. I got to go riding for about 150 miles on Thursday and am either riding today or going fishing.

The last two nights have been nonstop lighting after dark, but no rain. Lightning makes my poor wussy dog cry and whine.

Gary, You doing the rear wheel today?  Bring it down and I can install the new tire. I do have a tire mounter. I can do it anytime this week. Give me a couple days notice.

I will be busy today. I just got back from Costco. Picked up some Steelhead and getting ready to smoke it with applewood. Im also gonna help a buddy bottle some beer that he is gonna enter in the Enchanted Brew Challenge. I brewed a beer in 2009 that not only won a gold medal for porter, it won best of show.( I hope I dont break my arm patting myself on the back.)My buddy Kyle entered it in his name.

I think I'll just be switching one wheel out for another with a new Elite already installed. Since the current is a 2000 IS wheel I should be able to use the rotor from the 2000 with the 99 IS exchange wheel/tire.

Getting things in order and prepped for the GOTF's run in less than 2 weeks. The wind blowing today is much like my last GOTF's (2009) trip back. 

I may or may not get to that rear end today. I hate taking them bag rails off but they sure do look nice on.

Looks like rain/snow in the forecast up here over the next couple of days.

For what it's worth, you don't need to remove the bag rails or the bag hardware to remove and replace the rear wheel.  You do need to get the bags themselves out of the way.

It's worth a lot. This will be the second tire removal and rear end work on this once new-to-me IS. Last time I had taken off the bags and brackets to dig in and check out what I had inherited. I had not yet installed my new bag rails, but yanking those saddlebag mounts I felt was a pain. I wondered if they had to come off but hadn't gotten that far.

Recently did a rear brake speedbleeder install and bleed so my bag is off and now awaits my motivtion to take it to the next step. It's been about 8K since the last rear maint.

Thanks for the heads up Willow, now I don't have any good reason to put it off any longer.
