First, thanks to Joe and Chip for the drive shaft maintanence help (they did the work, I just watched)New tire, everything greased, finally cut off my fender and put on new turn signals, and the bike wouldn't start. Hmmm, to make a long story short, (1)checked the fuses, all ok, replaced them anyway (2) checked the starter relay next to the fuse box, took it off and checked it per the instructions in the manual, ok. Jumped the contacts, starter turned over, (3)took the starter button apart, looked good, but cleaned it anyway (4) checked the clutch switch, ok (5) checked the kickstand switch, ok. I'm on about day three now and getting disgusted. Take the left sidecover off, the radiator overflow tank off, and there is a plug laying down by the swingarm. Pretty dirty, takes a while to get the rubber boot off and takes a while to get the plug unplugged. Inside looks bad, spray some electrical contact cleaner in about six times, plug it back in and the probe light comes on when the contact is made on the starter button contact. I believe the plug was supposed to "hang" in front of the battery, but it is laying down by the swingarm. Not sure what it is, on the wiring diagram on HDL it's a "starter relay", but the wiring diagram in the manual (I think) says its a "bank angle sensor relay". Got a new relay at the auto parts store for $18, good to go.
