"The mountains are calling and I must go."

« on: March 19, 2012, 04:45:00 PM »

Progressive recently doubled my premium because they couldn't pull a DMV report. I got on the phone with them and got it resolved easy enough, the woman was able to pull one while I was on the phone with her. She apologized and credited it me back the difference. Of course I got paperwork from them bot coming and going. I happened to notice on the last package I got that I was being charged $6 per policy period for "Loan/Lease payoff". I paid this vehicle off 3 years ago so it definitely registered a WTF with me.

I immediately got on the phone with them and the rep said he could only credit me back $6 and no more. I asked to speak to a supervisor and told him I had notified them that the loan was paid off the day I made the final payment. I told him the date and he said he would research it and call me back in 15 or 20 minutes. He did. He said he was able to find the recording of the phone call when I had called so he's refunding me the entire amount back to Dec 08. It's not much but it's  my money. Yea, it's my fault for not catching it sooner but like I told him, I trusted them and I should not have, my bad. Sad

But imagine them still have a record of a phone conversation that happened 3 years ago and being able to listen to it. Scary, really.

Lesson learned, always go over your paperwork and never assume everything is OK.  Embarrassed

Progressive messed me up when I first insured the valk with them by insuring it as a GL1500CF, not the GL1500C that it is.  Difference of $100 a year! Shocked

Also make sure they have you listed as having a motorcycle license.  They charge more if you don't have the endorsement and somehow that designation wasn't on my policy even though I had the endorsement long before obtaining Progressive insurance.  Somehow they conveniently overlooked that and I discovered they were charging me a surcharge for years.  They did send me a rebate for as far back as their system would let them but beware and check your policy carefully!
