I know this has been discussed a lot but I have a 2000 IS, have always wanted to install a cruise control. Have read a lot but want to make sure. Would like to use a unit that is electronic not vacuum, but also like to take advantage of IS electronic speedometer and not have to add parts to the front wheel. I see the audiovox ccs100 (vacuum), and the too expensive mcs4530. Are those my best two choices? What do you guys like best? Thanks

I would like to go the true cruise control route someday as well. Perhaps a winter project. After recently moving my breakaway throttle control from another bike, I was surprised at how well the valk can hold a constant speed. I mostly use the throttle lock to give my hand a break for 5 minutes or so. I found my bike stays within plus or minus 1 or 2 mph even with strong wind and small hills. My other bike would require constant adjustment.

I've been running the vac audiovox unit for over 6yrs now with no problems other that a broken wire which I did myself. I've also installed four of these units for other valkers. There is an electronic newer version of this unit. The speed is control by input from the coil to hold rpms so no magnets on the wheel are needed. The interstate has plenty of room under the fairing for anything you decide to use. Good luck and it'll be one of the best add ons you'll ever put on your bike.

Use that part number 250-1223 and do a search, they can be found cheaper than $240..I do already have a controller so that might be why I found some cheaper... I can't find my notes right off so I can't give you any links.

I went the expensive Australian in 1997.
It has not failed in any way shape or form.
Still holds + or - 2-3 MPH, even in hilly country.
Would I do it again, ur damn right I would.
I don't mind installing things, but damn I hate to have to go in an repair it.
