My best friend rides a 94 fxdl Dyna low rider. We ride together every chance we get. Several of my friends have them, and I like to ride with them. Alot of them have great bikes that function great on longer runs. I also ride with 500-1100 shadows, kawasakis, and even some crotch rockets.
It is usually the riders you are with over the bikes they are riding. I get alot of complements on my bike, and most of them come from harley riders. They are always amazed how smooth, fast, and quiet it is. Most of them understand if you are a rider, it does not matter what you ride.
I dont drink much anymore so im not riding with bar hoppers much.
A good friend and frequent riding buddy owns a 94 low.... 17 time champion at Palm Beach Intl Raceway... it runs mid 10's. Needless to say, it's not exactly stock. As for who I ride with and what they ride... I ride with good people and I don't give a flyin' crap WHAT they ride, just as long as they can keep up.

I get tired of hearing Harleys are slower than anything.
ANd Hondas or UJBs are the only bikes that last for years and years.
WHatever you ride, ride with pride.
But don't put another mans ride down, or act like he is a fool for buying whatever he rides.
That is the personal side of how you make people feel inferior for what they ride.
Most people ride other brands because they are looking for a value at the time and don't see the need to spend more,e.g. BMW or Ducati or Harley.
But the people that do go the extra mile or spend a little more for the ride they want should not be looked at like fools.
Just as those that don't spend more or can't spend more should not be looked down upon.
I wave at scooters and even bicyclists.
People that sit on porches get the wave as well.

The phrase "The pot calling the kettle black" comes to mind. I don't even know what a UJB is ??? On a side note: A few of us are going to headin' out in the morning for a over-night in the Walhalla , South Carolina / Clayton, Georgia area with hopes of out running the rain .....Know you are welcome to join us

Al, I started out riding Harleys...have had more Harleys than I can count on one hand. Had all the t-shirts, do-rags, etc. Even then, I didn't make fun of what other people rode, although I heard many a HD rider talk smack about how a person who rode anything else wasn't a true rider, was a wannabe, etc. I got tired of my bike looking like every other bike in the parking lot and thought I'd branch out and try some other bikes. I've had Suzukis, Kawasakis and Hondas now and guess what? I've discovered that these metric bikes are good bikes and for ME, Valkyries fit me best for what I like and for how I ride. I still ride with some of my HD friends; I would ride with all of them but some won't ride with ME now since I'm not on a HD. I've had HD riders that I don't know ask me when was I going to get a real bike and calling ME a poser. My whole point is this, ride what YOU want to ride. Don't let others dictate what YOU ride. If YOU don't like what people say about YOUR bike, whining and crying never turned an idiot into a genius. Good-natured ribbing aside, if you run into somebody on the board who genuinely dislikes you because of what you ride, then that person is the one with the problem and your leaving the board because of it just reinforces that behavior. If you want to leave, leave. If you want to stay, stay. Just don't be a drama queen about it.

I like to ride! I ride with Valks, My Brother has a suzuki, Orange County Hog has great rides and they complain my motors too shiney, My friends up here ride Harleys, Victories, Its all good, but there will always be an A-H#le someplace that has some thing to say. I do not need a motorcycle type to define me, or choose my friends.

Well I'm glad everyone is getting away from trashing politicians and are now in the mood to trash all kinds of motorcycles. You know this IS a m/c forums. Come to think of it maybe we can trash politicians on motorcycles. I have owned Honda's, Harleys, Suzuki's and Yamaha's come to think of it I liked them all. I'm just glad I can ride.

BUT he rides a VTX 1800 and the other day one of my friends was complaining, "If he (West) is such a patriot (he is) why doesn't he ride an American made Harley?" Of course I didn't point all the obvious flaws in the reasoning but it's not an uncommon mindset.

He probably did a lot of research plus the cost factor and made a good decision IMO. One guy on his HD asked me why didn't I just buy a Harley and I said "WHY? Why should I ?". He had no answer!

Have had folks call me a wannabe too. Most of the time I just shake my head and walk away. Sometimes I tell them if that's the way they really feel then they truly don't have a clue.

I hate this MC Brand crap. Apparently you ride what you like, so ride it. I rode about 250 miles last Saturday with five friends. We had a Valk (mine), two Harleys, a Kawasaki, and two wings. Not one time was anything said about anybody's ride other than how good they looked.

And the KEY word is FRIENDS! The people that put down your bike can't be friends, it must make them feel superior by putting you down. Those same people that look down their nose at me are the very ones I just love embarrasing in front of all their HD buddies by letting them see my little Honda just blow their little side covers off!!!

Al, you either need to get off the meds you're on right now or change the meds, cause I'm gonna call B.S. on ya for the "no valkyrie riders will ride with you" comment. As a matter of fact, I think you owe me, Joe, Gordon, and a bunch of other guys on this board an apology for saying that. You know darn well we don't care what you ride, that is, unless you're turning into a "harley snob". Shame on you!

The how 'bout you stop making stereotypical statements and stop referring to this board as the "Harley Haters board". I have yet to see anyone declare on this board that they hate Harleys Al. Please provide the quote where someone here has said that. And for the record Al, my first three motorcycles all had Harley Davidson on the tank.

I love all motorcycles ! But riders can be like racists about their brand of choice . I was taught by "harley riders " that I was inferior in everyway to them because of my brand , so many times i cant fathom the count , it got sickening , so I learned that it was easier to just beat them to the punch and move on . I've often wondered how they would feel to have their eyes beat out the back side of their head and have to tell their "harley bros" that a guy on a honda did it . AND I MEAN NO OFFENSE to anyone here , dont take it that way. seems like people just need a reason to be condescending to everyone else . its stupid !

But I'm still looking forward to it one of these days. Is Joe coming down this way today? This is the "ifiest" weather I've ever seen. I went out earlier to the garage and when the sun was out and rolled the bike out, it turned black like a tornado was coming- now it's back out!! Crazy!! They are calling for possible severe weather later on. I think I'll just ride within 15 miles so I can fly back if I have to. Let me know when ya wanna ride, the spring bug done bit me hard!

Now I am crazy and a Harley Rider. since 1996 to 2005 The Numer of AMericans taking Anti Depressants has doubled. USA TODAY The number of Americans using antidepressants doubled in only a decade, while the number seeing psychiatrists continued to fall, a study shows. About 10% of Americans — or 27 million people — were taking antidepressants in 2005, the last year for which data were available at the time the study was written. That's about twice the number in 1996, according to the study of nearly 50,000 children and adults in today's Archives of General Psychiatry. Yet the majority weren't being treated for depression. Half of those taking antidepressants used them for back pain, nerve pain, fatigue, sleep difficulties or other problems, the study says. http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2009-08-03-antidepressants_N.htmOh well at least I can still ride like one fella said earlier. No snobbery at all in me ,,ever, ANd I am sorry if I offened anyone. Just participating in a lively debate we all call Motorcycling.

Secondly... of COURSE you would catch some grief from this crowd about trading a Dragon to ride a Fat Boy.... I mean really, that's like kicking Megan Fox to the curb in favor of Roseanne Barr.

Nothing like the sound of a pack of Valks rolling down the road!!.......we might have to put a governor on Mike's bike though...... cooldudeAnyone who's managed to stay awake while riding behind me knows that Iam the governor on my bike It might be a couple of weekends before I get to ride... I know Ralph from Lexington wants to ride... and Big Al's always welcome -Mike Ok, but Al has to ride in the back!!! I like riding in the back UJB is a Utility Japanese Bike,,Cycle World uses this phrase quiet often. Well I havehad several people talk about the fact I sold my Valkyrie, and just happen to pick up a good used Fat Boy.
