Going to the darkside

Taking my 99 to the darkside, I have been researching and debating it and decided to go for it.

Don't get carried away with your first impressions.  I was startled with the change, and it hasn't been that long, but I'm rapidly forgetting that I changed anything. Either that or the CT really is breaking in big time and the counter steering effort is diminishing. But do take things a bit more careful as YOU break in.

ditto on bonS. Just take it easy for the first few weeks. then you will find you have a better ride, more confident cornering especially in the wet. better braking, smoother on patched roads, and not having to worry if the damn thing has worn out

My only suggestion would be to pick a CT with the most rounded edges that you can find and prefeable a radial.  The tread pattern will make no difference in how it handles other than when on snow or wet pavement.  There are many sizes to consider also.  Most that run a CT inflate it somewhere between 34 & 42 #.  This you can determine for yourself.  Do a search and read to your heart's content.  I am on my third one and each one has been better than the last...Jim

I run darkside on both, my VTX1800 and my Valk. Frankly, at first I was motivated by the "beefy look." They way the tire "fills up" the beautiful fenders.
As for ride performance, ditto on what's been said thus far. 

I run 205/65/16 @ 28 pounds. IMHO, the "cheaper" the tire with softer walls the better. She feels like a limo and she is more compliant on the twisters. ???
