never seen the need for one either. i've done a lot of work in many different nursing homes (installing fire alarms) and every old geezer that had one, you couldn't make out anything from 'em. they all end up looking faded and gray. (sure, it's the ink they used back in the 50's)

You say this as if you are saying tattoos are a bad thing. We have enough fighting on here to start picking at peoples personal choices they make on their body. If you are just trying to start a conversation it would be better to NOT pick a side an lob the first round......thats how you start an argument

I'm working on a left arm sleeve. I have 13, I think, on that arm. I'm also pierced. Kit has 5? and is also pierced x2. It can be addicting. Pain is pleasure! The ink used today holds up alot better then ink of 20 yrs ago.

Always wanted to get one as a kid but I respected my father's and grandfather's objection to tatoos. A few years ago, my son was on vacation and decided to get a dragon tatoo on his back. (Looks excellent, very detailed). If I had been with him, I probably would've got something myself. At this point in life, it's not important to me any more. But if I ever did get the compulsion to do so, it would have to be based on old time 'Rock-n-Roll and/or 'Doowop'. It's the only music I listen to. I even have a jacket that say's "Lost In The 50's" across the back. If I had a time machine, that's where I'd go and stay! Sorry for the rambling,,lol.

Like most things, it is a matter of personal choice. I am almost 57 and just added a new one. Fudgie, I sat there for 2 1/2 hours and these two young girls were getting "friendship" pieces on their ankles. One said to me that I was awfully calm, and I said i thought it felt good. When she was getting hers, All 18 1/2 years looks at me and says "I see what you mean". It took a lot for me just to smile and nod.

looks like she's trying to hide a scar. if you look closely. Looks more like a birth mark to me. That's Kimberley Vlaminck. She made the news a few years back, got the tattoos, then when her father freaked out she claimed she only asked for 3 small ones, fell asleep while he was tattooing those on her face and woke up to find her face covered in tattoos... She later admitted she asked for them all and was awake the whole time... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1194910/Teenager-Kimberley-Vlaminck-56-stars-tattoed-face-finally-comes-clean.html

Nope, and no piercings either. I am rather proud of my multiple scars though. My favorite is the one-inch inside my right eye orbit from smacking it on the corner of a marble coffee table while crawling around in the dark after my HS girlfriend with the large headlights in an angora sweater. She was something else, and the scar was worth it

I was the platoon leader of a platoon of blacks in Korea. In fact I was the only white boy in the unit.
We were in Japan, on R&R, actually on our way to Korea on the 18th Draft, got drunk and we all ended up with a black panther on our upper left arm. If I had it to do over again, yes I would have. In Japan it cost $5.00 American dollors.

I'm too cheap to pay for a tatoo, got no problem with them otherwise. Hoser I think they are great, and I watched every episode of Ink Master that was on recently. But I'm the same way...too cheap. Plus, when I've gone to tattoo shops with buddies, I could never decide on something I though was cool then that I knew I'd still think was cool in 20-30 years. I guess its that "fear of committment".

Got 3 while in the Navy. Seemed to be the "cool" thing to do at the time. The last one, I received after an Afghanistan deployment. It is a racist tattoo towards Muslims that I thought was cool at the time. Wish I had the money to get it removed. "Young and Dumb". I'll never regret getting my Navy anchor though!

OK heres a twist for you all , I have given uncounted tattoos , drawn artwork for peoples tatoos and done countless 'coverup " tats over the years but have none of my own . I gave up slinging ink because i got needle jabbed a few times and was afraid of hep and hiv. I just coulnt find anything that I thought I wouldnt regret later, and I dont regret it ! but I have seen some beautiful work and some crappy work too. If I was going to get one I would go with a tribal design just because they dont look as bad as they fade . I used to pinstripe cars , bikes and trucks too but got bored with it .
Been stuck with needles and body fluids/blood in the eyes countless times from EMS work. I'm almost tired of getting tested! Partner and I joke all the time about having the HIV together. The guy we took care of came back with rapid HIV test positive and they wanted us to do a crap load of meds to help slow the progression if we did have it since he was a bloody mess until they can confirm it a day later. We both declined.

Muslims are not a race, so your tatoo may be anti-muslim, but it's not racist.

On Sept. 12 2001 I got two tatoos...... One on my left forearm of the American flag flying at half staff. This is to honor thoe we lost on 911. The other one is on my right forearm, the head of a Bald Eagle with a tear drop below its eye. This is to remember how we all cried that day. These are the only tatoos I have. I am very proud of them. Two weeks later, My wife got the same tats, only in different places.
