I'm usually not much for putting out personal stuff on message boards, but Kitty said I have to, so here it goes. Kitty and I have a new Grandson "Elliah Michael Young" who was born on March 17th in Huntsville Memorial Hospital. It seems that he had some type of infection before he was born, which lead up to him getting Meconium aspiration syndrome (Meconium aspiration syndrome is when the baby poops in the amniotic fluid and then breathes it into the lungs). He was flown by Life Flight to Memorial Herman Childrens in Houston a few hours after he was born. He was placed in the Neo-Natal ICU, and as you can imagine, we have been running back and forth from Hooterville to Houston. At first, he had tubes stuck in him all over the place, and we couldn't even touch him, but now he's doing much better. As of yesterday, he no longer had any tubes except his feeding tube which goes through his nose, and oxygen. He is eating very well, and they hope to remove his feeding tube and get him nursing from a bottle today. As it looks right now, he should be coming home sometime later this week. I'll try to keep ya'll posted.
I wanted to post a picture from Photostash, but I couldn't log in to upload the picture..... Idunno.

Congratulations! Here's to your Grandson coming home safe and sound soon! FYI, our son -- who is now half way through his 11th year -- was in the NICU for 6 1/2 weeks after he was born...a very trying time indeed! Time warp to the present...he is healthy, smart, athletic and musically inclined. That's a long way from all those tubes sticking in him and all those damn beeping noises around him 11 1/2 years ago! I am amazed and grateful for him being with us every day!

Congratulations on your new grandson. Sorry to hear of the problems but sounds like you have great medical care and he will be fine. Sending prayers for his continued recovery and well-being.
