in other words....rider down. i'll post the long explanation how i crashed yesterday later (it hurts to type with broken fingers!)

for now, i have quite a bit that needs fixed/replaced.

so...BAG RAILS - someone posted there are some aftermarket ones out there that are CLOSE to the originals. it was a recent post in fact. can you share with me the company/info/phone number or websight....price...etc? sure would appreciate it. someone said THIS particular model...unlike some after market ones of the past...were pretty good and VERY similar to the original Hondaline ones

COBRA LIGHT BAR REPLACEMENT LIGHTS - someone posted that there were some replacement light housings....that fit on the cobra bar....that looked good...they looked VERY similar in design to the headlight shell on the bike. not just the light itself....but the lamp housings. got a part number/vendor/info???

thanks so much. i'll post more on the crash later...broken fingers...some road rash....bruises...sore...BUT I WAS VERY LUCKY!!!

Lisa posted she ordered a set of the knock-off's back in Jan. and has not seen them yet. See the link below....I know a few folks that has those and it takes some bending to get them to fit right ( one side rides right on the bag and the other side you could throw a cat thru it) . Sorry to hear about the crash Tim ....Those saddlebag rails would be BUYER BEWARE if I was in the hunt for some Lisa is a good one and I trust what she claims  cooldude.

These are what I have http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hondaline-Chrome-Saddlebag-Guard-Rails-Honda-Valkyrie-/200735027996?_trksid=p4340.m185&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC.NPJS%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUA%26otn%3D5%26pmod%3D190657766271%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D7346656696040801553, the last set he sold went for over $400. Contrary to what the title of the ad states, these are aftermarket rails if you read into the description. They are nearly identical to the OEM's, the welds may not be as nice and you may have to tweak them a bit to fit. I don't know who makes them.

I see Joe beat me to it!

Timmy,

Dang, dude! Really hate to hear that... Given how good a rider you are, this leaves the rest of us wondering how we've managed to escape the cage-carnage out there... Glad you weren't hurt any worse than you were... also, glad your Red & White wasn't hurt any worse either. I'll wait like everybody else for the written version of events... However, unlike everyone else, I have a proximity advantage... Wanna do a critique at the 'V'? I'll buy...

ok...here is the story...but typing right now sucks!!!!

was running late for dental appointment...and realized i didn't have change/money for a toll road that saves time. so....i went a longer way and just went a little faster

got to my entrance to I-65...a REAL sharp turning entrance ramp...posted at 25 mph i think? there was a cop sitting hidden RIGHT NEAR THE RAMP...so when i saw him at the last second....i was distracted ....seeing if he would pull me over (running about 10 over speed limit at that moment). so i'm watchining in my mirrors...to see if he pulls out. he doesn't....BUT NOW...i hit that HARD curve/ramp at just over 60. i immediately realized....i could have a problem...but THOUGHT...i could make the curve. in no time....i realized i was heading for a concrete barrier just off the shoulder of the ramp! i tried to scrub off some speed with rear brake...when...bingo, worst fear...rear tire loses traction....you all know that SQUALLING SOUND!

i knew then....if i let up...it's going to highside. nothing to do but stay on the brake...ride it out...and TRY to survive this curve! when i was just about to hit the barrier...bike about on its side...i think i was doing about 30 mph. at the VERY last second of impact....i got off....

it was ugly....both saddle bags scarred up....saddlebag rail ruined on the left side...left mirror and grip messed up...clutch lever broke in half...both spot lights on lightbar toast....new clearview shield ruined....left case saver bent into engine and badly scarred...and punctured left valve cover....oil leaking everywhere...Kury hiway pegs and mounts toast....frond fender rail scratched up....i'm getting tired of typing...

my left hand badly bruised....two outside fingers broke...shredded pants on left side....so some road rash there. today i find my elbow is swollen...legs and hip sore...BUT REALLY..I GOT OFF LUCKY (for such a dumb mistake). Had i not scuffed off some speed...and hit that barrier going about 50-60....i don't know that i'd be typing this now! oh, if the barrier weren't there...i THINK...i MAY have been able to ride it out...though it would have been hairy no doubt!

speaking of riding, i did ride...some 20 miles...in rush hour traffic...as soon as i got the bike picked up and running again (wouldn't start at first...maybe "bank angle" switch?) i rode it...with half a clutch lever...and my two last fingers broke...thru those 20 miles of rush hour traffic. that's when i KNEW there was something definitely wrong with my left hand! that half a clutch lever wreaked havoc on those broke fingers! oh, left shoe covered with oil meant every stop....my left leg tried to slip out from under me....and i'd fight that off...then have to mess with that broke clutch and busted fingers again!

got to my appointment...on time...but left boot and bottom of pants covered with oil (from the leaking valve cover). gas on my pants from gas that leaked from the tank when laying on its side. left side of pants shredded...with "rasberries" showing. hand bleeding and swelling. i said "clean my teeth...i want to get that over with". sherry met me at the dentist office with the trailer....loaded the bike...went to the hospital...got checked out and hand splinted....and then headed for a margarita!

today i dropped the bike off at the Honda shop. last time i went down was 1975. Can't blieve it happened...but it did...and i got lucky! now to get the dang bike fixed. oh, besides bike messed up...i can't ride any of the other bikes...and can't lift...for some time? RATS!!!

and typing...hurts like heck   Cheesy

I have a pair of these on MGM, they look nice with the matching lash to match the headlight.    Sorry, no picture.

Damn, I can't even get the link right.   This be the 3rd try.

PS:    Before ya all get jumpy here, I know that is not a Cobra bar, but they work on the Cobra Bar with no modification.

Other than stripping some wire soldering it and sliding a little length of heat shrink over the solder.

I have these spotlights in them, GE H7616 they only use 36.5 watts and put out 70000 CP. Lights up the road very well.   Watlock put me onto them.  Thanks David

The part I like about them is the bezel on them looks just like the headlight.   I did have to get rid of my birds eye, or rifle crosshairs light guard as it wouldn't all fit under the Bezel.   LOL.

If you do get them, put the bulb in them that Warlock recommended.  It sure lights up the road at night.    I've got my Cobras wired so they are on all the time the ign switch is on and go out when ya hit the starter button.   I pretty much run them 24/7 I'm riding the big boy.    They are a lot better than the 50 watt bulb, I replaced the original 35w with.

Heal fast, & correctly.

TimBob,

DDT

Dad dam it, if I could get around without this dam O2, I'd fly down and join you 2 outlaws.   That sounds like a winner.

How many miles ya got on the Bike now Bruce?    Mine is pretty well stuck on 242K+.

Son and daughter are my 2 riders of MGM the past 2 years.   I threw a leg over it a year ago and the big ole boy landed on top of me.    So until I can get my strength back, MGM sets unless 1 of the kids wants to ride it.    The daughter was with me once in Northern Wisconsin to a Rally, she had her motor endorsement about 6 months and hadn't really ridin anything of much size.   I was doing a photo op and fell off of a flower planter and broke my arm.   She rode the ambulance with me to the hospital, they fixed me up, we took a cab back to the Rally site.    I  was trying to figure out how we were going to get everything home.

She popped off and said I could drive and you could ride passenger.   Asked her how many miles she had double, she said only when you let me ride you around in the parking lot at home.     Wife was home having a sheet fit as to how we were going to get home.   So we went out in the Motel parking lot, had about 25 or 30 people watching & cheering her on in case of a problem, we also had my stage coach trailer.  She did a good job, so we packed, filled up the bike and headed for home.   She was a driver of MGM fairly often after that till she got married.   Now that she is divorced, she comes out, drops the girls off with grandma and I and she goes and gets some wind.

Heal fast Tim-Bob.

Avoid usa-biker like the plague Angry

I bought some bag rails from them, but luckily I paid for them using PayPal. They sent me an email with what looked like shipping information, but I never got anything. After a few weeks, I started trying to contact them, and sent them several messages via email, but they never responded. About 35 days after the initial purchase, I had to file a dispute with PayPal, and they never responded to PayPal either. PayPal eventually refunded my money after they completed their investigation in the matter.

I think what they do is nothing more than a scam, and they hope you wait too long to file a dispute with your credit card, and then you're screwed. tickedoff

I won that listing. I just received it today and install was less than an hour, They are not Hondaline, but look awesome on the bike. They cost me $348 Shipped and are brand new. The seller seems to list one of these every week, I was outbid on 2 auctions with him before winning this one.

crappy pic but i will take better ones tomorrow.
