I was helping a fellow valker to remove his rear tire. He's going to the darkside so I said lets pull the final drive and check your pinion cup and shaft end. As I pulled the final drive a small spring looking thing fell out of the swingarm tube. You could tell it had been in there for awhile. The bike only has 34,000 miles on it and I think this was the first time the drive had been pulled. There is no spring showing on any parts break down I have seen. The seal in the pinion was good and in place and the seal behind the cup was also good. Spring is about the size of the springs that are behind the rubber seals. Anyway I think it has been in there since new but I don't think it belongs there. The cup on the pinion was dry and the shaft and cup need to be replaced so we're waiting on parts now. Also gonna pull the u-joint and check it before going back together.  Any ideas on this spring.

if it is about 1/8 in dia. and a few inches long it is probably from around the seal. if i remember there is one on the frt and the back of the seal.

I'd pull the seal just to make sure. Don't forget to replace all three Orings, etc. Let's us know if you identify the source of the spring, please.  Smiley

OK spring is from the seal. Yes we're replacing the shaft, pinion cup, and the seal. Thanks for all the help.
