Brake/Clutch fluid - how much is required?
«

I'm going to replace the brake and clutch fluid. Does anyone know how much all three lines hold??
Is a 12oz bottle enough??
Thanks.

I'd buy the larger 32oz bottle of DOT4 from a place like Oreilly's . That way you'll have plenty if some of the reservoir systems are "gunky" and will need a couple or more flushings. 12oz may not cover your needs even if they are relatively clean. FWIW

Someone recently posted that they used less than a regular bottle to replace all their fluids. Will it be enought? It should be, unless already stated, your lines are really dirty. But then you could always go out and buy another bottle.

When I did mine a couple weeks ago I was able to get by with 1 small bottle, But I used a Vacuum type bleeder plus sucked out all of the dirty fluid in the reservoir before flushing. I did just had enough , I did buy two small bottles and would do it again just in case, I wouldn't want to stop in the middle to go and buy more. It's just not that expensive.

I just did both brakes and the clutch. I needed a little more than 1 of the standard size cans. I had 2 cans so it wasn't a problem.

Don't use any fluid that may been sitting around for awhile. Use only fresh fluid as this stuff is very hygroscopic, pulls water out of the atmosphere and goes bad.
