Anyone interested in a Meet, Greet and Eat on April 7th somewhere in the Kentucky area. Thinking Bardstown, E' Town or somewhere like that. Maybe a lunch gathering where we could meet, share a meal, maybe a short ride or not. There are some really fun roads in this area and riding them with fellow Valk riders is always a pleasure. Just thought I'd ask.
Just an idea that has been floating around in my head. I don't get enough time off to go on some of the rides I'd like to go on and can't afford many of the more popular rides but, that doesn't keep me from thinking about how I can meet some of my fellow Valk enthusists.

That is Easter weekend. But, are you thinking early lunch or late lunch?
I'm always interested in riding and unless there is some severe storms or snow on the ground I might be interested. As long as you don't mind riding with a dirty Goldwing.
I'd be coming down from Michigan seeking nice roads to entertain myself.

Hiya "Blackrams". I just bought my Valk, and am always looking for good/scenic rodes to ride on. I live in S.E. Indiana. I know, and have traveled ALL of the great rodes here in S. Hoosierland. I'm all for meeting somewhere in central Kentucky. Say,...11am which would give u time to show us outa-staters a nice route there. I have a couple Valk riders I've met that would probably come w me. Pick a sat or sun and a restaurant w a good address we can Google. I'll be there. contact me at standcool@yahoo.comas I don't get on here much.

I sold my beloved Honda VTX so I could get a TOURING bike to allow my wife to be more comfortable on long trips. Can't afford; nor do I subscribe to the Harley "hype". Wanted to stay with Honda quality. And as I'm still young enough to want a "COOL" looking tourer; the Valk Interstate is for me.

Charlie, Just pass'n through? Regardless of the Meet, Greet and Eat, be happy to break bread with you whenever if I know when you're pass'n through. If things go like usual, lunch will most likely last from about 11:00 AM to about 1:00 PM. But, one can not control when predators decide to go on a feeding frenzy. But, for planning purposes, I'm suggesting a noon time frame. I'll be early and most likely depart in time to be at my work by 5 PM but, since a meet location has not been determined as yet, my departure time is also not determined. So far, I've gotten four other folks that say they'll be there, with me, that's five. Based on those five folks locations, I'm think'n Elizabethtown, KY or Bardstown, KY would be great places to meet up and go in search of something we can kill and eat. Well, maybe we'll settle for something already dead. But, depending on who's interested, that might change also. Hell of a way to run a railroad huh? If this doesn't work, I'll probably just invite those same folks over to my place for burgers and brats. We'll see what happens.

Mad I've already seen my schedule for the July 4th time frame, I'm really sorry but, work has me scheduled for almost the entire week due to other's taking vacations. But, if you're in the Frankfort area, would do everything I could to meet up with you and have lunch, dinner or whatever.

Probably Bardstown just because of the different folks coming. Some from the south, some from the north, maybe a couple from east. But, it'll be a noon time gathering most definately, I have to work that evening. But, it is what it is. Will try to take a ride down that way tomorrow and check out a few places.

Barren River Lake State Resort Park has a awesome hog trough we used it a couple years ago on our " The Whiskey Run " ride. They took care of around 50 to 60 of us and the food was reasonable priced and good.

Blackrams, Won't be passin through. I got the riding itch and it needs some scratching. I've been known to travel a long way just to make a ride. So with that being said, name the time, name the place.
The only thing that will keep me away is as I said earlier, "snow on the ground or severe storm in the way". I can see this being a 1,500 mile weekend.

I may make it depending on the Warden if she lets me go. Map Quest says I'm about 2 hrs away. Has me coming down 75 to Dry Ridge and then taking 22 and 127. Those look like nice roads. I've done day trips down the other side of KY through Daniel Boone but not over your way.

Joe, I know you set up The Whisky Run, I came for a very short time but as always, couldn't make the ride but met some good folks in the time I was there at the base hotel. I don't remember the name of that hotel, would you mind enlightening me. Would love to take the ride to Barren River Lake State Resort Park for our the Eat part of this but, I can't do that and get back to Frankfort for work that night. But, for others that wish to do so, don't let my problem become yours. To everyone else, Bardstown, KY is the location, I'll come up with the specific spot Monday or Tuesday when I'm off. I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone that has responded and believe it or not, there are at least four others planning on coming that have not responded. Please remember, I'm not Smokin Joe and this is not a major ride, it's simply a Meet, Greet and Eat event to get to know other Valk riders in this area. I knew they were out there, I just don't see them. This should be a lot of fun. Bardstown, KY: Noon, 7 April. Exact location to be determined.

You can sit around and wash and wax'm, or you can sit on them and ride'm. My preference is to ride my wing by the evidence of how dirty it gets.
My question is to all: anyone staying saturday night and then riding back out? I'm coming down from the north so I'll take any suggestions on road back out towards Cincy or points east and north. I'll probably leave after work Friday and make it somewheres between Dayton and Cincy. All depends on my wind quotion for the day. The itch is strong right now and two wheels are going to cure it.
Joe are you coming up or does that sweet young Grand daughter got you tied up for Sunday.

I know I'm always welcome to ride with you guys. My client has me on a strange schedule right now. I know I'll be there in June to Hoot and Scoot the Hillbilly ride. Just wanted to make sure if you were coming to have some of that special medicine you like. Daughter gave me a couple of quality containers at Christmas time so I have been stocking up for June and July.
Enjoy your Easter.

Had another Valk rider stop in where I work tonight, he's much more familiar with the area than I am but, we'll be at the Quality Inn early and I'm sure between the two of us, we can give you some great roads to ride on. Just off the cuff, I'd suggest either 127 or 27 north to state route 460 east, kind of depends on where you want to end up. Special medicine in liquid form? Heck, how much you want, not hard to come up with here.

Maker's Mark, Buffalo Trace, Ole Grand Dad, to many to mention. Not sure exactly how many distilleries are here but, I know of two within five miles of my home and 5 or 6 within about 40 miles.

No doubt that part of Kentucky is covered in whiskey but the road to Markers Mark is the best IMO.Don ( Highbinder ) and I did two scoutin' rides to that area before " The Whiskey Run " and that was my favorite road of all we rode on.

[/quote] Joe, I have no doubt you're right. I haven't riden all the roads in KY but, I agree there's some good ones. On a side note, another local Valk rider stopped and asked me about the Meet, Greet and Eat today. Didn't realize there that many of us in the area. He said he was gonna try and make it. Yeah, I'm excited to see this many Valkyries on the road at the same time.

Blackrams, After looking at the 7 day forcast I believe that I will be heading your way from Sunny SE Michigan. I'll leave Friday after work (4 ish) and head south on I-75 (I don't really like riding the I-states but it is what it is) with a fuel stop just south of Dayton OH, probably a food stop at Hooter's off Exit 181 south of Cincy (I like the Hooter's off of Dutchman RD in Louisville better), and stopping in Dry Ridge for the evening.
Then on Saturday I'll head in to Bardtown probably taking some of the back roads to get there by noon. Do you want to hook up in Frankfort and ride over or are you heading out Friday night?
If nobody is riding after the Greet, meet, and eat then I'll head out in search OF areas to leave more chrome on asphalt. I'll spend Sunday touring eastern KY, OH, and back to SE MI.
The riding itch is strong.

Land Elephant
Charlie, Well if I was gonna spend the night at Dry Ridge, I'd probably head west toward Owenton on KY 22 cross country to get to Frankfort then south to Frankfort on KY 127. Scenic with some curves and hills. Two lane for the vast majority of the trip. But, that's just me. WATCH OUT FOR DEER. From Frankfort to Bardstown I'd most likely take 127 South to the Bluegrass Parkway. Regardless of what route you take, please ride with your brightest lights on an watch out for deer. This state has become over populated with deer and apparently they can't read the signs on where they're supposed to cross the roads. As far as where to meet, I'm meeting two other Valk riders at the Advance Auto Parts store located at 168 Versailes Road, Frankfort at 9:30 AM and we're gonna ride to Bardstown together. Your choice as to where we meet. As I told Hal47, come rain or shine, I'll be at the Quality INN off the Bluegrass Parkway in Bardstown at NOON on Saturday (actually, I'll be there early, planning to arrive about 11:00 AM). I started this with my initial post. I'll meet and greet and eat with anyone that shows up. I'm hoping to take a ride back north along some country roads headed back from Bardstown but, that is dependent on how many others want to tag along. I am not familar with the roads down in the Bardstown area but, I think'n I can figure it out. Of course, this depends on what my fellow riders that followed me down want to do.

OK folks, life got in the way and I haven't been able to actually get to Bardstown (though, I'm still try'n). Regardless, I did some asking around and made a few calls. The Quality Inn doesn't have a restaurant to eat in. But, Bardstown does have some unique places to eat that offer some (supposedly) good food based on what I've been told. So, I made a bunch of calls, made a decision and reserved a side room for us at: The Talbott Tavern Old, Bardstown 107 W Stephen Foster Ave, Bardstown, KY 40004 http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-32679709R-the_talbott_tavern_old-i;_ylt=Agv5ZIVGYqxG3oZ7nD6iZvTvQ2oLNot knowing exactly how many folks are actually coming, I estimated at twenty but the lady I spoke with said a variance either way isn't going to be an issue. Reservations are for 12:45 PM on April 7th. Weather permiting and time permitting, I'll get down there to check it out. Being restricted by my own schedule makes this harder than it should be. Should have just planned it for here in Frankfort but, live and learn. Regardless, looking forward to meeting each and everyone one of you. Take care and ride safe. As I said previously, this area is loaded with deer, please ride like you life depends on it, it does.

There is a good little mom and pop BBQ east of Bardstown. Beekeeper happened to see it as we rode by. It was tasty.
Go east out of Bardstown, from the 'round-a-bout' and hang a left, the road Y's. Its outta town a couple miles. Near a feed/grain mill.
Wish I could make it. I need to head down and get more Mint Julep this year.

Wish you could make it also. Have seen several pics of you and your wife from Sturgis that friends of mine took. (All in good taste.) I'll check into BeeKeepers. Thanks.
