I understand you can't make it but wanted both of you to know that you'll be missed.  Maybe next time.

Just to clarify for everyone, the meeting place (Quality Inn) does not have a restaurant but since we have folks that have said they might be staying there, it's still the meet up point.   I'll be there early with a couple of local riders but, meet up time is noon.

We'll meet at the Quality Inn ... 1875 New Haven Road...502-348-9253 at Noon.  Approximately 12:30, we'll take a very short ride into Bardstown and eat at:

The Talbott Tavern Old, Bardstown
107 W Stephen Foster Ave, Bardstown, KY 40004

http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-32679709R-the_talbott_tavern_old-i;_ylt=Agv5ZIVGYqxG3oZ7nD6iZvTvQ2oL

I made reservations at the restaurant for 20 from 12:45 to 2:45 PM.

Ride safe and stay alert, deer can make one heck of a dent in yer day.

Well, if I got the count correct, 13 riders have committed.  Sure hope they all make it.  Looking forward to putting a face to a name and meeting folks that I've gained a lot of respect for.

Thanks to those that have said they wanted to come but couldn't for various reasons.  A big thanks to those that have contributed to this thread also.  To those that'll be Meeting, Greeting and Eating, see you in Bardstown, KY.   cooldude

Home from the meet and greet, it was a whirlwind trip but very enjoyable. I'm the fat guy in the white sweatshirt on the right. Thanks to Tim for being our photographer and to Ron for suggesting the meet and doing the legwork. Waiting on an update from Ron on our one traveler who apparently had alternator trouble about 30 miles from the finish line. They were heading back towards Frankfort when I parted ways with them.

First, I wanna thank each and everyone that came or tried to come to our Meet, Greet and Eat event.  I honestly had a wonderful time Meeting, Greeting and Eating with both known friends and new friends.  It was everything I'd hoped for.  Great bunch of folks, and a lot of bike envy on my part, lots of story telling and just plain fun was had by all.  Thanks for coming.

As for Charlie (Land Elephant) and Rob (Canuck), I can't honestly say that I left them the way I wanted to.  After we charged up his battery from one Valk to the other and started out, he was able to make it about ten miles on that charge.  So we kept repeating the process until we got to Lawerenceburg where Rob decided that we'd done that enough.  He had a buddy coming down from Cincinnatti to pick him up with a trailer.  I waited until the very last minute so I could help him load it but I finally had to mount up and ride to work.  Made it by four minutes.  Regardless, Charlie was gonna stay with him.  I've tried calling Charlie's cell phone mulitple times but he has not responded yet.

If I don't hear back from him pretty soon, I'll just ride back over there to see if they are still stranded.  Not gonna leave them like that.

A bunch of really good folks, not to mention the Yamaha V Twin rider that just happened to be stay'n at the Quality Inn and joined up with us for the afternoon.  I'm pretty sure we converted him to a Valkyrie in that he tried to buy F6John's about a dozen times.  He absolutely fell in love with that bike.  It is beautiful.

Thanks again to all the tried to or actually made it to this little event.  It was a great time for me and I hope great for you as well.  To those that attended, please chime in.  I already told you how short my memory is.  Putt'n a name with a face is what works.

Ron, you look like you've installed LED running lights on the back of your head.  I'm not sure what my camera was doing there.  I need to get a different camera.  That one has been good to me, but it's showing it's age.

You sure that's not someone laser tagging me?  Nah, the camera is fine, those are my LED driving lights off the Valk, was trying to trade them for F6John's solo rack.   Wink

Thanks for coming and posting those pics.  Again, a great bunch of folks I'd ride with anywhere.

BTW, did anyone get the V Twin rider's name, thought I put it in my phone but, it ain't there.  He's the one at the end of the table wearing the tan cap.  Nice guy that will no doubt end up a Valk rider.

Even though I didn't get to meet everyone and my Valk failed me, I had a great time yesterday laugh  I got to meet Charlie (Land Elephant).  We got a little riding in and spent a lot of time BSing while sitting on the side of the road.  I learned that Advance Auto will deliver a battery to you at no charge if you're stranded on the side of the road. cooldude  Here is a small world story:  The young lady from AA brings the battery to me (who called back and asked if I needed any tools - another  cooldude) told Charlie and I that her co-worker rides a Valk and that he was on a meet and greet.  Turned out to be Ron (blackrams) - small world!  She called Ron to let him know we were on the road again.
About 15 miles tearing up some nice sweepers trying to get there in time for lunch, my dash goes out again - of course, in the middle of no where the bike cuts out.

Charlie gets in touch with Ron and the possy is on it's way.  Scratching our heads about my dilema the guy on the V-twin pulls out booster cables ( I still have his cables, so if someone knows how to get in contact with him I would appreciate it).  F6John gave me the first boost which got me about 11 miles closer to home.  Then it was Ron's turn....

Did this one more time and called a buddy to come fetch me.

I appreciate all the help received by my fellow Valk'ers yesterday.  Ron offered to go get his truck n trailer and get me home to Cinci, but I couldn't allow him to go this far out of his way.  You meet the nicest people on a Honda.  Ron hung out with Charlie and I for as long as he could before he had to go to work.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to ride with them next time.

Charlie, I had a dream last night that I washed your bike for you! 2funny

Crazy B**** and I made it home from the Kentucky meet, greet, and eat.  We had a great time!

Thank's Ron for suggesting this event and doing the work to make it happen.

We met several wonderful folks and wished we had all had more time to ride together.  Hated that Canuck and Charlie missed the great food at the Talbot Inn.

On our way home, Crazy B**** and I stopped by Green River Lake Park to check it out and stretch our legs.  Here's a photo:

Till next time,
Be safe.

It looks like I'm one of the last to make it home from this great weekend.  Rolled in around 6:30 PM with about 865 miles. So here is my story.  May be a bit long but it's about riding, meeting good people, and great weather.

I left SE Michigan about 4 PM Friday afternoon heading due south on I-75 with a planned gas stop just south of Dayton and then on to Frankfort KY for the evening. Just as I got south of Cincy a strange but strong force started drawing on me.  As I got closer to Exit 181 the force was so strong that I decided to stop for the night instead of continuing towards Frankfort.  Got a room.  Answered a number of text from Canuck concerning hooking up Saturday morning.  Again the force was strong and pulling me out of the motel.  I couldn't resist anymore so out the door and off to Hooters I go.  A good night was had.

Saturday Canuck and I meet up at the TA and headed out for Bardstown. Great roads down to Frankfort and then on to Lawrenceburg.  It was at this time that Canuck started having problems as mentioned about.

We did spend about five hours getting Canuck's Valk from the corner with the abandoned house to Wendys and loaded and heading back to Cincy.  It was a beautiful day and I have to say I've seen better men lose control over breaking down and Canuck was a trouper.

So to answer the question "Where you heading to Charlie?' I headed back on Rt 62 to Bardstown and the Quality Inn.  I met up with DDT, Big Wolf, and Crazy B.  A good evening of drinking beer and telling stories.

So today I rode the backroads west of Frankfort to Carrollton and then the I-75 back home.  Again a good weekend.

Thanks again and Canuck, if you wanna go riding, give me a holler, I'll ride with you any chance I can get.  BTW, I made a set of those jumper cables today.  So, I'm prepared.  Cheesy

Very much enjoyed the "meet and greet" in Bardstown. A great lunch with some great guys (and gal). After we split up, I traveled south on KY49 about 16 miles to Maker's mark distillary so I could dip my bottle in some red wax. coolsmiley Got home via Madison, In. about 7:30 that evening. Oh, my Valk is the black interstate at the front (bottom) of picture. Thanks Tim for posting the pics.!!

Just spoke with Ray Smith, he was the fella on the 'loud' V-twin.  I was wanting to send him his jumper cables back, but he said they now belong in my saddle bag - just in case.  Ron, you'll have to invite him next time so I can buy his lunch.  Very nice fella - he should be riding a HONDA  cooldude

Yep, you're right, he is a nice fella.  I called and thanked him also.   I think he's coming up to Frankfort in the near future so that we can share some wind.   He told me, he wants a Valk just like F6John's.  Said John would not put a price on it.  Cheesy

Another Conversion.   cooldude

We're all gonna have to get back together and have a ride.  We'll see what I can work out.

I think I messed up. I should have priced my bike to Ray and if we made a deal, then turned around and tried to buy Canuck's Interstate while waiting for his battery to take a charge Grin . Somehow I don't think Canuck was all that discouraged though, had a great attitude even with the alternator headache cooldude .  I've had my Valkyrie for a little over 12 years now and I have formed a real attachment to her I guess. Probably a good thing Ray didn't make me an offer to good to turn down, I would'nt feel right without a Valkyrie in the garage. I don't think there is anything too special about my bike but as it has happened to me in times past , sometimes you just see something that hits the spot for you.

I think Ray may be an "ass" man, he really liked the 11 1/2" shocks Grin

John, your bike is a keeper.  Those pictures don't do it justice.  You'd regret selling it, unless you sold it to me. 2funny

As far as the alternator issue, you can't sweat the small stuff.  crap happens.  Getting bent out of shape just makes the situation worse.  I had good folk with me that wouldn't leave me stranded.  When I crapped out the first time, Charlie and I were scracting our heads about it.  Charlie says I think it's your battery.  Let's pull mine out and throw it in your bike to see.  I said really - you'd do that?  He smiles and responds that he wouldn't have offered if he didn't mean it.  GOOD PEOPLE!  FYI - a Gold Wing battery does NOT fit in a Valk.  But the effort was made.

So how much for the bike John?  2funny 2funny
