The new oil thread got me to thinking about stuff

We know that our oil is the result of deposits from the dinosaur age. All the dead dinosaurs and former stuff changing over time into oil.

But what about synthetic oil?
Is it the result of these guys?

I could be wrong, but I thought all 100% synthetic oil was man-made.

It is made through a chemical process known as the Fischer-Tropsch process, starting with raw materials like methane, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide. This process was developed by Germany in WWII, when that country's access to crude oil was very limited."

There are some that feel that oil is a natural product of compression of the earth's crust components and hydrogen contained therein.  I don't know geophysics, etc. so I'm not sure. 
But it does make you wonder how all that oil got 25000 feet down under 5000 feet of ocean.  How'd Brontosaurus get down there?  Cheesy

Well there's some evidence to support alternative theories about where it came from. I have my doubts about how the end result of that much biomass (enough to be worth billions of barrels of crude) got so deep.
