Seriously??  Talk about hypocrisy.  How many times have Republicans criticized the SCOTUS??  They do it all the time...complaining about activist judges and courts.  Hell, Gingrich even said he would send federal marshals to drag the justices to answer for any decision he didn't agree with. Also, you might say now that you aren't in favor of criticizism of the court by either side, but your, and the republicans in general, silence when republicans criticize the court implies that you are in favor of it when it supports your position.  And therein lies the hypocrisy.

And lets never mind the fact that if you actually listen to the words Obama said, he never directly addressed the court, but did address conservative pundits who continually complain about judicial activism and lack of judicial restraint...with the implication that the court overturning the mandate would be exactly that given the history of the court's rulings on economic legislation passed by congress.

He never questioned their "authority" either.

"I am confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically-elected Congress, and I just remind conservative commentators that for years, what we've heard is, the biggest problem on the bench was judicial activism or a lack of judicial restraint, that an unelected group of people would somehow overturn a dually constituted and passed law."

He happens to be correct. Judges are appointed, not elected. You can take that remark as a shot across their bow if it makes you feel better. He's also right about pundits (and in fact, politicians and other judges) who've bitched about judicial activism circumventing the will of the people. Now that the shoe is on the other hand they're gonna take the other road and whine that the people are stupid and that the SC needs to correct them. It's hypocritical.

What I find interesting is the courts have lately been going against the peoples decisions. A small example is the gay agenda, trashing what people voted in and exhibiting Judicial activism for quite awhile now. We all have seen and experienced it, and there was not one cry against it, not one champion that would carry the cause in government. Yet when Obama may not get way then he cry's and manipulates like a little girl. Why do the courts and people even pay any mind to this when they never have even when all the people complained they basically said tuff luck. I am so pissed tickedoff tickedoff The courts should be fair and decide on the constitutionality of the thing not give difference to the whim of the administration, if they do then the courts are not the fair and legal system we have come to expect but another police agency enforcing government policy.

if 'Obama care' was being decided STRICTLY on it's constituitional merits what do you think the outcome would be?  8-1? 7-2?  9-0  it doesn't cut the mustard the arguements have shown that.

I don't see how pointing out one's position as appearing hypocritical amounts to name-calling.  All of these conservatives feigning some sort of false outrage over something the president never actually said...but they took what he actually said and read into it a bit to support their false outrage...when in fact they continually and openly complain about judicial activism (which is what the president was actually addressing) and were actually cheering Newt for going WAY farther across that line exemplifies the height of hypocrisy.  But if you've personally demonstrated outrage at republicans criticizing the court, I guess I'll take it back.  I just hadn't noticed your outrage in all of those other cases.
