the added length of higher bars that I am installing.
Ordered and received the throttle and choke cables, and the brake and clutch lines, all with an increase in length of 4 inches. I think the hard part is going to be adding length to all of the wires to the switch housings. I haven't removed the tank yet to see if there is any additional length hiding somewhere, but I have a feeling I'm not gonna find 4 inches.
Can anyone think of an easier method of lengthening all of these wires than splicing, soldering, and taping in lengths of wire? There are many wires on each side and I am also concerned with the increase in bulkiness.

Since he's ignoring me would someone direct him to the thread about the wiring for my drag bars? Same rules should apply.

take off tank to get to control wires???????? I believe they all go into the headlight bucket. I have been wrong before, but when I replaced the right side controls I think I just had to get inside the headlight

I did a long, detailed explanation of the process of cutting and splicing and what tolls and everything (with a hand drawn wiring diagram) for a request and now I can't find it. Anyone else have any luck?

I installed deuce risers on a std, there was plenty of cable/wire for them.

Well, heck! At least your not having cut, splice, solder & shrink tube the Tach wires...there's 17 of 'em!

That's the one, thank you! For some reason that thread comes up in my search but only the original post by Momz comes up. Maybe I'm ignoring myself?

Are you installing "Apehangers"? Yes, 13" apes. I have 10" mini apes with a 4" riser and need to go a liitle higher and farther back (is that an oxymoron?). I didn't need to change out the cables or extend any wires with my present setup, but it is tight. I measured with the new bars and 4" over OEM for everything leading up to the switch housings and hand controls would give me enough room and a good look to the cables as the curve down to the triple tree. I was thinking of routing the wires through the new bars, since I think I have to extend everything anyway. I just don't want to start something that I'm gonna hate doing and rush through it to get it done. (I hate wiring!)

Again, he's ignoring me so a couple of suggestions that someone could re-post (take credit for it I don't give a f**k); 1: Find a friend who is good at or even enjoys wiring (they exist) to help you. 2: Routing the wires through the bars is the way to go. Looks SO much better.

I just don't get this A**hole.
I ask if anyone knows of a DIFFERENT way of doing something, and this person, who knows I want nothing to do with him, asks others to speak for him and find old threads of his to present to me, only to provide the SAME method of doing the job. Not a DIFFERENT one, the SAME one. His way is the only way and he needed to show it off, even though it contributed nothing. And then, continues to provide garbage advice about getting someone else to do the job for me, and says it's OK for someone else to take credit for his garbage.
Holy Sh!t, leave me the F()CK alone already.

I doubt that you will get 4" of slack out of the OEM wiring harness without effecting its integrity.
After my original reply I read the write up discussed below and found that it offers some good advice on work practises and considerations to modify an existing wiring harness.
If you don't want to do it that way the only viable alternatives MAY be to get access to the wiring harness and try and get the required slack or use the existing components and move them. Both these alternatives are not practical to me but............ as the Inuit expression goes "up to you".
If you don't want to rush the job and have the resources maybe look at getting used handlebar switches from somewhere like Pinwall and doing the mod and then the install is more of a plug and play once you are ready.
If you disagree with cutting and soldering as viable methods and want to completely custom wire the installation do a web search on Deutz connectors and wiring equipment - they offer terminals and cannon plugs etc. that I have used for wiring joy sticks on heavy equipment like excavators and have a very usable and durable (weathertight etc.) product.

Only suggestions are that if you do end up cutting and extending wire you may want to consider staggering the joints so that the added bulk is spread out and not all concentrated in one spot. Instead of tape you can use heat shrink tubing - I think it makes a nicer job.
That's what I did with an old ACE that I "aped". I staggered the spliced in lengths. Was hoping someone had an easier, different, way. Guess I'll just take my time.

Be careful with apes on the Valkyrie, the weight of the bike makes it a challenge to upright it off the sidestand if not set up right. With apes you don't have the leverage of bars closer down and again, if not set up right you have control issues while riding. Yeah, they might look cool to some, just remember the Valk is a somewhat different animal which can....and will, bite if you're not careful. I've tried riding a couple different Valks with apes, not a fun experience at all and I've been riding two wheeled motorized contraption of all types for over 60 yrs. In years past....many times contraptions was the operative word.
