Not much selection of Valk shirts now, I certainly understand why. But I'd like to get some Henleys made with the old art work.

Many of the old designs have been discontinued and they only offer tee shirts. I prefer Henleys.

With a 22 inch neck I HATE T-shirts. Too constricting.

OK, I've always hated T-Shirts. Even when I only had a 20 inch neck.

NO, it aint a fat neck. Just needs to be that size to carry my melon head  2funny

I've got a few first generation Ts. None look like what is currently available. One has a logo of the Viking's head I'd like painted on the tank. Is why I saved the worn out T-shirt. The one with "go tell  your mama . . . " was always good for starting a conversation. Tone of discussion was subject to change depending on who you were talking to. I do like the current "Power of Six" design.

I think that Mark at Cat Specialities use to make all of the t-shirts and did a lot of the designs

I'm pretty sure most if not all the designs you find interesting are owned by F6Rider.  They don't normally do them all now, but if they believed they would be sold they could probably do a run of almost any they've done in the past.

Yup, Mark made the t-shirts, designs were my thing. When I started the F6Rider website, first home to this message board and as we gained traffic, I went from paying $35 a month to $100's because of the increasing traffic.

My good friend, Steve Pondick said hey you're a graphic designer at work why don't you sell t-shirts to try and cover the cost of running the site.

Having no expertise in making t-shirts I thought that was that. Steve lived very close to CAT Specialties and he actually approached them about building our shirts. All was well.

Then came the end of the Valkyrie, and sales went in the can. It was no longer profitable for for me. We adjusted, I bought up all of CAT Specialties stock of shirts, and worked out a no compete agreement with CAT, and we move forward. That was maybe six years ago

Anyway I was going to shut down the whole thing a couple of years ago but my friends at the VRCC thought badly of the idea. So we have right sized the F6Rider store. We work 1 day a week building shirts, we've out sourced our film and screen making to an outfit in Florida. Long story short, the past 5 years F6Rider has lost money which I wrote off against my income from my real job.

Then came Brianne, she cut-out Sweatshirts, hoodies, henleys and designs that didn't sell anymore as they'd been in the store for years and the dwindling Valk guys she figured already had them.

She kept the t-shirt as that was 90% of our sales, and did a lot of things including down sizing the store again. In doing this she has made the store pay for itself, basically we made her salary, paid our taxes and did not bleed money any more.

She quit! But not before replacing herself with Tiffany who now operates the shipping and stuff.

JeffK wrote me today and I am making Henleys for him, and we're going to try to put them back in the store... in small numbers, they sell and will continue them.

One side note, Brianne (who still works in the store occasionally) has suggested selling VTX shirts! OMG! But her point is valid, we'd open a new market with a bike still in production and maybe we could capture that lighting in a bottle we had before the Valkyrie went the way of the DoDo bird. (is that how you spell dodo?)

My thought is new income would let us keep making more Valkyrie designs, who knows may be a pipe dream.

Anyway thanks for reading my little missive.

Thanks OZ for starting the website/message board I joined in 2000 and still visit the board daily. I know I have at least 20 t-shirts. I bought 3 last year but the rest are getting very faded. Maybe you can set up the store to preorder shirts/designs with a credit card. and when you get 30 orders or so for a shirt/design send it to print. Maybe even have a ticker so everyone can see how many orders are there on each design. If someone really wanted a shirt they may order a 2nd to get it to print sooner. No wasted designs printed on the wrong size shirt.

and I have a couple of ideas for shirts. The first would be a street sign shape that says

 WARNING Easily distracted by Valkyries

or maybe something one of these two

well Oz, here's my take.

make vtx tee's, make roadstar tee's, make anything that will sell.
just keep us in mind when you do.
there's no reason the store shouldn't make money.
if it helps keep the doors open, go for it.(store and here)

maybe branch out to other "dodo bird" bikes. who knows there may be a market for them too.
i like the idea of preorder type and size.with the counter on countdown till next order. i don't think anybody would die of they didn't get their  shirt immediately.

we all appreciate having this place to come to for information and b.s. ing
thanks. Smiley Smiley

CrazyHorse Wrote: "Oz what shirts are you doing for Jeff K. May be others who are interest. Lot of us who have been around awhile need replacement shirts for the ones that have faded away. Just a thought."

Basically I wrote JeffK that we would make a Henley for him, that said right now he would have to select one of the existing designs in the store to put on that Henley.

As I said, Brianne came in and by making strategic changes in how we operate took the store out of a loss situation. Along with a lot of changes she discontinued Henleys as they were a bit of a slow mover and by doing so we didn't have the expense keeping Henleys in our active stock in all sizes an expensive expence that just sat in stock and would take a long time to recoup costs, doing that helped our buttom line.

SugerBear has a good idea too, getting into the VTX for more cash flow and maybe finding other discontinued bikes for people that can't get shirts for those.

I especially want you guys to know discovering other markets for cash flow is a strategy to help us keep making Valkyrie products, my first love. Hey after all the Valk is what I ride and I too want to have shirts and stuff for the bike of my choice, the Valkyrie!

I guess I'll contact Willow to work some fair way of sharing more thoughts with you guys about what it is that you want and other suggestions you may have.

Valkyries, VTXs, Vulcans and Victorys, oh my.......Valkyries, VTXs, Vulcans and Victorys oh my......Valkyries, VTXs, Vulcans and Victorys oh my........and maybe V-Rods too.

Who knows......maybe the site could morph into the bikes with a name that starts with a V Riders Cruiser Club.

Perhaps this discusion should continue in it's own thread with a sticky.   cooldude

MNBill Posted:   "This guy took the old Valk shirt image and made me shirts, long sleeve and short sleeve with the silk screen and also did me caps and a henley with the stitched on old style Valk pattern. I do not know or make money from him, I already paid the fees to have the pattern made for his computer sewing machime."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your post makes my wife and I wonder why bother? Why sweat coming up with designs when folks will take them out and have them copied, without permission no less.

Heck maybe your guy will just take over and we won't miss our Sundays go ahead and close the store and skip being a vendor at InZane, I could actually take my wife and ride while at the event instead of paying to be a vendor and having to have someone hang around the booth all day.

If you’re going to pilfer our designs you'd be better to go to one of the online t-shirt makers, bet their prices would be way better.

Just one more question, did it cost a lot to have this guy make film and screens for each design you had him make and how much did digitizing cost for the embroidery?

Sorry to be an a$$-whole but it is frustrating

or whatever the right words are to describe the equipment to make more.  I wore my old faded Florida shirt to Daytona and a couple of folks said that they would be interested in some.  I would also like some new ones.

I liked the original Honda Valk design with the hoda wingn,,, I would buy designs others made from them. Hy Honda shop told me the original Honda Valk tshirt design was discontinued. It was not at F6 or any other store, I searched alot before I went throught all the trouble. I had my own made.

EDIT: I wore the shirt today,,, not a wing, it is the Maidenhead that Honda used to make.
