a/k/a Stuffy. '99 I/S Valk Roadsmith Trike

De Pere, WI (Green Bay)

« on: April 05, 2012, 11:33:28 AM »

After a long bedside vigil Tuesday, while holding her hand my sweet girl breathed her last at 12:40am Wednesday. Her pain and torment are now over and she has joined her sister. When I visited her the end of January, I knew it was near. The cancer was spreading like a prairie fire. She would have been 54 on June 1st, her sister was just shy of her 45th birthday.

The first picture is of my two "cancer" girls, taken around the end of 2001. The one on the left was first to go five years later, the one on the right had already recoverd from a double mastectomy and recontructive surgery two years prior. A little humor; the gal on the right, Todd, in college was given the nickname of "blessed." She was a very "healthy" young lady and had looked into reduction surgery. After the mastectomy reconstructive surgery, she would joke about it, saying "at least these puppies won't be going south in 20 years." A bubbly personality, never knew a stranger, a born teacher and her kids loved her. Over the years her former students would bring their children back to show her. Often she would embarrass the parents by telling their kids some tales of how mom or dad were in her classes. As loved ones always are, she will be missed. But, life goes on and the pain of the loss will soften with the passage of time. This time of separation is short compared to the eternity we'll have together with our loved ones. A thousand years is but a day......

"Daddy's girls," the picture below was taken around the same time as the one above. The two on the right remain; youngest at the bottom, now 43. One at the top will be 52 shortly.

Can you imagine what family gatherings were like? That's what you dwell on, not the pain of loss. We had fantastic times together and my sides would hurt for days afterward.  2funny

May God comfort you and bathe you in His blessings during this time.  I just can't imagine.  I hope I never know what it feels like.

You're right.  This time is short, but our time together will be long.

John, my deepest sympathy to you and your's. I have heard it more than once that children are supposed to bury parents, not the other way around.
Words can not express the feelings that you have. Bonnie and I (Ross)  will say a prayer for you and your family.
