Just took my newly aquired valk out for its first cruise and whoa, major seat problem. Previous owner was short and had adjustable shocks installed to lower the bike so I'm returning to stock height but the seat is not going to work. Cramped legs and sliding forward with braking. I felt way too far forward as well. Any recs for a good solo seat for 6'1" 32 inseam?

Im about your same size 6'1" with a 34 inseam and just got new ultimate bigboy seats. I had the same problem with the stock seats. Ultimate seats made the world of difference.

I had the opposite problem. I am so short that when I seat on the curb, my feet dangle! When I first bought "She Dragon," I immediately replaced the seat with a Mustang Solo seat-no backrest. ??? It looks beautiful on the bike but it is 1" taller than stock. It is good for someone 5' 10" or taller. Needless to emphasize, I could not ride comfortably so I went back to the OEM seat. Looks good but I'd prefer something without studs or conchos.

If your Valk is older than 2000, your seat is smaller and uncomfortable. Consider swapping your current seat with a 2000-2003 OEM. This is a very popular mod.

I'm 6' with a 32"inseam 215lbs. I put the Ultimate big boy with a back rest on last month. I have stock shocks and added Highway pegs. To me it is perfect. I can sit flat footed so feel very secure and the pegs let me stretch out. would love to add a forward controll kit as it takes a second to remember that the brake and shifter is on the lower pegs. The seat I think looks good also. If you can find someone in the area to try one out first that would be good. they are not cheap. Just ask some one will have one close by. You might add your location to your profile so someone close can make a offer to help.

I'll second that about finding a local that has one, you are on the line between the big boy and the king big boy. At 6'2" and maybe a 33 inseam I chose the King and love it.
a 2000 and up seat IS a big improvement over the earlier seat and only cost $84.65 new from Honda.

The Mustang sits a little higher than stock and also sits you further back than any seat I've owned.....even further back than the Ultimate King I also own. But be forwarned....the Mustang is a firmer seat and may not be for everyone.

It seems like the Airhawk R might be a better fit, 15.25" wide vs 14" wide with the medium

have you tried it Jess, any review on the Airhawk? I've written about the Airhawk a number of times. I have a regular drivers medium (before the new one came out), and use it almost all the time in warm weather on my Ultimate lowrider and big boy seats. You float on air, and get air under your bottom. I only inflate it about a third most of the time and that is how it's supposed to be used, but I have blown it up harder to maybe 2/3 full, and sat higher yet (I didn't do it to get higher, I did it to experiment with comfort). If you blow it all the way up it is too much and you will bob about on the seat, and you could blow out a seam, which is unrepairable (any other puncture is repairable). It's designed for all day comfort not raising you in the seat, but it does raise you a half to whole inch depending on how much air you put it it. It has a locking blow tube under the cover (like an air mattress) for air adjustment. If storage is tight, you let it all out and fold it in two. For someone really looking for a rise (besides the Ultimate King) you could cover an airhawk with a sheepskin seat cover. It comes with ties, but I've never used them, the rubber bottom on the cover stays put on the seat no matter how spirited the riding, and if I stop, it goes in a saddlebag if I will leave the bike. I once had a Corbin concrete block seat... that is how I discovered the Airhawk in the first place.

Ultimate King Boy will give you the most room. and move you back as well. That with the peg lowering kit, and in-town riding is not toooo terrible for me (6'4" 34"insm) On the highway, Kuryakyn 4050's and the King Boy are good for 13 hours or more (did that 6 times so far).

Another alternative is a Russel Day Long seat.
You can ride 1,000 miles rides all day long.
I had one many moons ago, and Des from Ultimate made me an offer at one of the early InZanes I couldn't refuse.
I'm still riding that Ultimate seat. This seat is one of the early ones and did not have a fancy name for it. I have also put many miles (smiles) on this Ultimate seat with no complaints.

+1 on the Russell Day Long. Mine sits me up higher for sure. I can't flat foot my bike now with the Russell unless I move forward. But I'm only 6 ft. It might be perfect for you. I love my Russell...and this is after I returned an Ultimate Big Boy because, for me, it wasn't any more comfortable than the stock I/S seat. Not knocking the Ultimate, because everybody has a different makeup. That's why the Russell is tailor made for you.

Im liking the Ultimate Big Boy. Im 6'-5" and about 200lbs with 36" inseam. I had the Ultimate King for more room but it gave me hot spots on my butt. I also have Progressive 440 13" shocks. I tried the Mustang but it was way too hard. Try sitting on fellow valkyrie bikes and go from there.
