Jess is right. Sig has had a LOT of QC problems as of late and their customer support of problem products has notably poor for an industry that is known (at least in my opinion) for generally taking care of it's customers. Check this out:
I have been in contact with Tim (the guy in the video) and inquired about whether or not Sig has corrected the issue or contacted him about his malfunctioning rifle. As of a few weeks ago they had not even responded to his calls or emails regarding the video (he's offered them a chance to rebut the video contents). This is not an isolated incident either. There are quite a few videos and ongoing accounts of 556R's "reliably failing".
Sig HAS however told customers that the rifle was not designed to shoot steel cased milsurp ammo. Really? That's curious because if you ask most people why they buy a rifle chambered in 7.62X39 it's because they want to shoot cheaper milsurp. You certainly don't usually shoot that cartridge because it offers optimal performance.
It's sad too because Sig once enjoyed a stellar reputation and they're a New Hampshire manufacturer. This is not to say that you can't still get a good gun from Sig. But be careful.
Tim is no rookie either. He's a former Marine and his Military Arms Channel videos are an excellent resource.
