I was wondering how the Rune stacks up against the Valk.  Not crazy about the price but I want something newer....  Has anyone bought one?  wonder about the Power? vs the Valk?
 Thx.....

The Rune is an 1800cc, has the Goldwing engine and is smooth as silk and powerful as well.  It's not a Valkyrie IMO... but a really nice bike on it's own.   If you want the storage and touring.... then the Wing might be a better choice.

no personal experience with Rune, but why would you want something newer than the Valk?  Is the Valk giving you trouble and not running right or is the paint fading/going bad or the chrome rusting?

I see no reason to get rid of any cycle, let alone the Valkyrie, just because it is older, do you?
If you enjoy riding it and think it suits your needs, who cares if it is a 1930 HD??

I have heard the Rune, way overpriced, is ONLY slighly faster than our Valks, if any, all depends on rider of course most of the time and the slow speed handling is worse on the Rune as well.

I have one of each!!! angel    They are both outstanding bikes.  They are both completely different, not better different.  I also have a Ultra Classic so they are all three different...I ride each for a different reasons.  Not sure what I would do if I could only have one... maybe the Rune, it is a rocket ship on rails and runs off and leaves the other two like they were in reverse.

With a Valk and a Rune, why even mess with the Ultra?  Unless of course your Valk is not an IS.

I here Ya!!   the Valk is a Tourer and it is more of a collection of bikes as apposed to buying only one...The H.D.  is my long distance rider, with the Valk followed by somewhat shorter distance when I need storage.  And the Rune is for quick trips although I do ride it to
Erwin Tn. each year for the Rune Rally, which is held each Labor day weekend.  This will be my 5th year!!!  If anyone is in the area stop by or attend.  We love to have both Valkyries there.  There are normally atleast 4 or 5, along with 50-60 Runes !!!

Steve, how would you rate the HD ultra classic in terms of speed and comfort?  Do you have any mods on the HD to make it run with the 2 Valks to keep up? Seems like it must be comfy to run long distances with it or maybe just because it gets better gas mileage than the other 2 in these high gas price times plus a little bit more wind protection.  3 nice bikes - awesome deal you got going on.

Cookiedough,The H.D. is as comfortable as the Valk, but has better electronics,ie. CB,CD,FM and MP2 adaptor. and of course electronic cruise !!! As far as speed, I did put gear driven cams in the Ultra and change out the cams as well.  The Ultra will run off and leave any ( most ) other H.D. The Valk would be second for speed and of course the Rune is off the hook.  My Rune will stay with a Busa until the speed limit switch kicks in and then the Busa is GONE!!  Once again I like them all, there are just different...  The Ultra also gets the best fuel mileage, 65 MPH = 40 MPG    Oh yea, the Rune does not handle well at slow speed.  However it handles very well at speed, better than the Valk. And well the Harley is just a pig...

If you are not racing or running 90+ on the road it will run with the Valk, rode with one on a road trip to SD a couple years ago.  Surprisingly, they virtually got the same gas mileage.  I sure envied his cruise control.  Hoser  cooldude

Uh, you wanna back that up with a race for titles? Because I can borrow a Busa and I wouldn't mind owning a Rune.  Wink

I've got a Rune and 3 Valk I/S's in the stable now. I like everyone of them, The Rune is a blast to ride and is like a rocket on rails.  cooldude I really like riding it and the torque is unreal. It always gets attention everywhere you go. But I sure enjoy riding the Interstates both for comfort and the long distance riding. Looking at triking one of the I/S's so I  listed the Rune for sale on the  Valk classifieds.

yep...i agree with Steve. 2 Valks and 2 Runes in the garage (ok, just one Valk for now...the original red and white is being repaired after the wreck...). i love BOTH bikes. but the Rune definitely will out run and outstop the Valk. often i ride BOTH bikes in one day...so i get a constant reminder of how each rides. for longer rides and storage...i love the Valk. For day rides and MASSIVE attention...i take the Rune.....

i've had my Valk almost 15 years. once they fix her up from the wreck, i plan on having it at least another 15 years. i've had my Rune 9 years this August. i plan on having it another 9 years +. THERE IS NO OTHER BIKE I WANT RIGHT NOW.......... cooldude
