time......a co-worker asked me to ride with him after having bought himself a Harley......he is new to biking and still learning......he is smart enough to know to take it easy until he gets a feel for the bike...... I haven't gotten 41mpg in MANY, MANY moons, but he helped me do that today.....I'm glad I had the patience to poke along.....

Sort of the topic...
On another forum, a fellow was asking me about my Magna. All kinds of info, and one question was what kind of mileage I got with it. I told him I didn't really know. I have never bought a motorcycle with the goal of saving fuel in mind. I know they get better than my Grand Prix GXP (21-22 mpg) and my Freightliner (5.2 mpg) but other than that I just don't know. Don't care really.
I mean, I've got one bike with 4 carbs and another with, gasp, 6!
Before my day, my dad had a Plymouth GTX with a 440 6-pack on it. He said the mileage sucked so he swapped the 6-pack for a single 4V Carter. Ummmm, Dad, it's got 440 cubes the mileage is gonna suck. Period.
But I will say this. I get alot better mpg's with my girlfriend on the back. Got 165 miles before hitting reserve once!

Stan, I am also helping a new rider learn the ropes on his new Heritage Softail. He does OK, but slows to rolling around any turns (LOL). Gives me an excuse to take all the remote back roads around here.
Told him he can't go with me all the time, just some of the time.

Stanley
That's cool of you to help your friend out. I'm sure that you'll be back to sucky gas mileage soon enough.

You meet the nicest people on a Honda (Valkyrie) Way to go Stanley.
Sometime in the next 45 days after he finds his individualism among the other 1000's of local Harley riders, I hope he's not giving you grief for not having a Harley.
All the best,
Mark
