Yeah, what he said!! We need to make sure that the "younger"
generation remembers that Memorial Day is not just an excuse
to have a cookout. A lot of people paid a heavy price so that
we can have that cookout or day at the lake or (even better)
a day off from work to ride our Valks. Long live the USA!! Salute!

P.S. It just hit me the other day...some "kids" graduating high school
this year weren't even BORN when I was in Desert Storm!!! Shocked

it's not just a day off.  Thanks to all the vets.  I lost my Dad last year, he was in WWII, in the Phillipines, Leyte.  He never said much about what he did, was a cook actually.  He did tell me that in boot camp, someone dropped a live grenade and he grabbed it and threw it out of harms way.  I joined the Naval Air Reserve, but they did teach me electronics, which is my field now, so I appreciate that a lot.
Like Tim said Freedon isn't Free.

I also would like to say "Thank you" to all the vets on the VRCC board. My family thanks you for all you have done and your service to our country.

I say thanks every day to all of the Vets and current enlisted men and women.  I try to live my life, proud of my country and the people that made it the way it is today.  I get a big frog in my throat when belting out the National Anthem at sporting events, even though people look at me kinda funny.  I don't care.  God gave me a gift that allows me to sing and I use it.
So, this Memorial Day, say thanks to the Vets, but try to show everyone that you care.  Fly the US Flag, somewhere, anywhere, just fly it and be proud.

God Bless America

My thanks to ALL veterans!  cooldude

I am not sure he ever used a gun, but my dad was a Lt. in the Army, stationed in France during the Korean War. His mom ("Granny Lucy") on the other hand could nail a snake or a rabbit (dinner!) with a 410. Cheesy

Thanks to all our past, present, and future Vet's. May God bless each and everyone of you and this Country for the sacrifices that have been made, are being made, and will be made. Freedom is not free and we are seeing that more and more each day. May we all return to the togetherness we had and the patriotism we displayed shortly after 911, how quickly we forget and return to our routines of feuding with each other.  cooldude JDW

I proudly fly the flag each and every time that black I/S leaves the garage and it means a lot to me.  I can remember the time when I prayed to God in the dark to let me see that flag when the sun came up in the morning.  I thank God for all the men and women who have seen it as their duty to wear the uniforms of this great nation.  Yes, Memorial Day means a lot to me...JTL

As did many of my family before me, I also served but never saw combat, only due to the field I was in since Viet Nam was in full swing by the time I got out. As for singing the Anthem or hearing it, I always get that lump in the throat. And if I see the flag going by in a parade, take note that I'll be one of the few that even bother to show respect.

I recently picked up a flag to mount on the saddlebag guard rails but I need to ask...which side do I mount it on. Seems like it should be on the left but not sure.

After reading on this site the only position thing I can find is if the flag is displayed with other flags it should be on the right and higher than the other flag. Good luck either way!
And thanks to all vets alive or not!
For me it was USAF 1976 - 1979.

Vets built this country (or kept it built anyway).
