My "NEW" 1999 Valk Interstate.

S.E. Indiana

« on: April 16, 2012, 12:14:55 PM »

Hi all.
I just installed new higher quality J&M front and rear speakers in my '99 Interstate hoping for an improvement in the sound quality. These are great speakers of excellant quality that bolted right in w/ NO filing down the frame w/ a Dremel or "forcing it". The sound using my MP3 and even A.M. is good. However, F.M. still sounds HORRIBLE. It's like the tuner is 1 click off. Rainman says his is the same way. Was wondering if others experience this even with STRONG, NEAR BY F.M. stations? Is there a FIX for this? Are there any radio specialists who "repair" or have a better after-market radio for our Interstates? Is this the SAME radio that comes in a 1999 Gold wing?

I sold my beloved Honda VTX so I could get a TOURING bike to allow my wife to be more comfortable on long trips. Can't afford; nor do I subscribe to the Harley "hype". Wanted to stay with Honda quality. And as I'm still young enough to want a "COOL" looking tourer; the Valk Interstate is for me.

I also have the jm replacement speakers on my interstate. I moved the attena to the rear and mounted a 12in rubber attena between the saddlebag and the fender. My fm am work just as well as my xm.
