Serk,

Thanks a lot. What a great tip on how to search "by image". The holster seems to be an excellent way to carry in the vehicle. Wow! Two "wins" in the same post!  cooldude

I would be concerned about it being visible from outside the car while parked - then an invitation to break in.  You know what "BMW" stands for right?  Break My Window.  Otherwise, good idea if you can hide it better than they show in this pic. As for me - I carry concealed on my person.  Probably not as fast access as this method, but better security for the piece.  Nobody's going to hijack my old Exploder, I'm sure.  Not like it's a BMW / Mercedes / Escalade.  I usually have a 2nd piece stored in one of the pockets, out of sight - a Browning Hi-Power 9.

What I see as an issue in a carjacking is; what if the carjacker approaches from the passenger side? They may see it and now you've lost your advantage. Reaching under the steering wheel is not a natural movement in a situation like that. Reaching to unbuckle your seatbelt so you can comply IS. Oh, okay let me just undo my seatbelt so as I can "SHOOTS YOU IN DA FACE!" ***BLAM!***

Then what if you leave the vehicle but don't have the opportunity to retrieve the weapon? Now you're who knows where while the bad guy just drove off with your car AND gun. I just feel a lot more comfortable when in the car if the gun is on my person.

Great idea but is illegal in Texas. It must be concealed at all times...except of course when in use... Grin

Absolutely agree. I'm a firm believer in maintaining the element of surprise.

Also, what about when your vehicle is parked? Seems that holster would be a very strong magnet for a break in.

I would think that you'd either take the gun with you or if you could not, lock it in the glovebox or center console. I don't think it would be wise to leave it there, that's for certain.

Gun? In a car in Texas in the summer with the windows closed? I'd be afraid of a round cooking off.  Wink

Not sure about 'I see it' for a break in. But of coarse we drive 4x4's and there is no way I can see under my steering wheel.
Its really no different then when we all had gun racks in the rear windows. I'd leave mine up there all the time. I've never heard, at least in my area, of a gun being taken off the rack.

That's because you don't typically have a carjacking problem in places where people keep guns on gun racks.

Man, I miss seeing gun racks in pickup windows. I've never heard of a gun so located being stolen around here either. When I was in school many of the students had racks with firearms in their trucks in the school parking lot. Nobody thought about it twice as far as I remember. Back then a guy would have gotten drummed out of school if he didn't carry a pocket knife instead of the other way around.

I wasn't clear in my post. I was talking about the empty holster being there as a break in magnet. It doesn't appear to lend itself to easy removal and replacement so I guess it would be there all the time which would tell a thief there's possibly a gun stashed in there somewhere.

As somebody else said, the holster may not even be visible up under the dash on some vehicles so it may be a moot point.

I looked at the info on the holster site, and it says it for attaching your holster to.  Should just leave a strap under the dash when you take your gun/holster with you.   My buddy has the old bench seat cover with the pocket on the front of the seat.  Keeps an 18" moss 500 in that pocket ready to roll.  "Hold on dear hijacker person I keep my wallet in the glove box, let me get it for you while I shoot you in the knees  through the door"....He had to use it a few years ago in Gary.  Messy messy messy.

Hmmm... Are you using IE? I just tried it in Firefox, Chrome and IE (Cool, and it worked in Firefox and Chrome. Make sure you drop it on the box where it says "Drop Image Here" too... It really is a very handy tool too, being able to Google search on an image itself.

Pulled it over, dropped where it said drop... then nothing.
