My orange & blk. Standard has 136k on it, and the past 2 winters had planned on doing the alt. rebuild----but just never did. Anyways, just replaced the battery, cranked it up and getting 14.2V---someone said I should get 14.5V at least! Not charging properly? Should I plan the alt. rebuild as soon as possible?

I usually feel that doing maintenance at your convenience always beats waiting for trouble and then having to do it or being stranded somewhere.  

Daniel Meyer says 80k is average.

I have about 108k on mine and plan on changing the brushes this weekend or next... (<- Procrastination font)

Did my 98 Tourer a few days ago. Planned on doing it at 50k and forgot about it until we had a few alternator posts. So I put brushes in at 95k.
Here are the 2 old brushes with the new one for comparison.
