do you think paint, powdercoat, polish or chrome? maybe leaving them original so the purchaser can finish them to match the bike or do as they please?

planning on bringing a couple to inzane for the raffle !

You didn't say, but I assume you are selling these? What is the dimensions and price and is it mounted on the kickstand? Good looking item.

Ok guys and gals: what do you think they should be priced at? i had one character here email me calling me everything but white because i priced these at more than the $5.00 scrap value. seriously he thought they should be $5.00 to $7.00 each and i need to pay for shipping.

If this is the case i'll go ahead and scrap the idea of the shifters also. my pricepoint on them should be about $180.00 chromed and $165.00 powdercoated. is that too much also?

I discovered back when i used to produce parts for the big three that they thought machining should be no more than $10.00 per hour, i paid significantly more than that then ($70.00). it would appear that "our" bikes need to retain their value, if not rise, and "our" wages should continue to rise , but everyone else needs to just suck it up and take a loss, what with the economy and all.

I appreciate some honest thoughts on the pricing of these parts before i spend another dollar on additional offerings. thanks:Tank

I would buy one at $50-$75 but that would be the tops for me. Just my ipinion but at $165 it is just not worth it. I don't mean to discount your time and effort but don't think you will sell many at that price.

I think you have them priced about right. I think I paid $60 or so for my Rivco pad several years ago before they stopped making them. Of course the Rivco is chromed.

If you price them too low, you will have a tough time raising the price.  However, if you price them too high and they don't move, you can always lower the price until they move.  Call it a "sale" at first, then if you like the volume and margin, call it a price adjustment.  Nobody has a problem with prices going down.  You control the sales volume with the price, as long as you make enough to cover cost and the margin you need for your effort. This is just a SWAG, but the price might settle out at around $40-45 unfinished, and $10-15 more than that chromed.  I'd buy one right now, unfinished at $45, then probably black powdercoat it.

Those pads look pretty sweet. You've done a nice job there!
My bike sits up way to straight to use one of them but I'd want one if it didn't.

I think you are at a fair price at $50 and the shifter price sounds good too. Have a friend looking for a shifter and we'll be in touch when you roll them out, unless he finds one sooner.

Guess yours is not like mine. Leans over too much. Keep having to find a piece of wood or something to go under the kickstand.

Please keep in mind that anyone on the internet can read the Classifieds, as they can all our public boards.  That's a good reason to never post your contact information in the ad.  Members will be able to send you a PM and that PM, assuming you are set up correctly, will generate as well an email to you with their message.

I carry a 4"X4" piece of chromed diamond plate in my saddlebags for those times when I have to park on gravel of soft dirt at an event and don't want to return to my bike on its side from when the kickstand sank into the dirt.  I've also seen a few times in Oklahoma summers when it prevented a very deep divot in the soft asphalt.  I keep it on a long 1/8" bungie with a clip to the handlebars so I don't forget it.

I bought the chromed one Big Mike was selling last year but I honestly don't remember what I paid for it. It looks and works fine. I'm always glad to see people making new things for these great motorcycles. All the best to you with moving these.

Can you also post a link to the shifters you mentioned? I went back 10 pages in the Clasifieds and couldn't fine them. Sorry if I simply missed it.

Riding the twisties ie. Blue Ridge Parkway has ground about 1/4 of my chrome pad away.  Nothing else touches the road (except the tires) in the tightest of banking.
