My child would not need handcuffs. She would need a pillow to sit on.

When I was growing up, if we misbehaved in school, we would get our ass beat by the teacher like a Tom Tom, and our parents would be in full agreement.
Today, they get the cops involved. No further comment.

Teacher have to put up with a lot of $hit these days and cant defend themselves
Sad state of affairs
Some kids with aspergers or autism or undiagnosed problems can cause real harm to themselves and others but I am not saying these are bad kids but they are kids with special needs and the schools should know what they have in the classroom by mid year in any grade and have protocols in place This sounds like protocol as Wayne said is call the cops
My nephew has been known to do some wild stuff, he doesnt like loud things and crowds but is smart off the scale. When he acts out it is a real headache for my sister in law and the family as suspensions dont help they are just time outs
I dont know the facts of this girl and I dont know that handcuffing kids is necessarily the 'answer' but it seems to me that once a person is in a police car they must be buckled up and kept safe
maybe someone has a better idea of how to protect the kid and the cops the teachers and the other kids
Race baiting is not the answer

I'm with Oss on this, cuffs regardless of race may have been for the child's and others own protection. My daughter in 4th grade a few years ago got punched extremely hard in the ribs/gut area and was bruised up pretty bad by another girl in her class with mental issues being upset because the boys at recess wouldn't let her play with them and she decided to take it out on my daughter. I got a call from the school ASAP stating Emily has bruised ribs and is shaken up pretty bad. The other girl out of control had to have 4 teachers come in and get her in control and even bit her own teacher making him bleed a little cussing and swearing all the way to the office it was terrible. Boy, the next morning I had a few choice words with the elementary principal who is also my neighbor. I said if this EVER happens again since we all know the child is being pushed thru the school system with teacher aide's doing her homework just 'to get by', she WILL be out of this school for good and I will see to it that it does. The principle never spoke one word while I was ripping her a new one and said at the end we are going to resolve it. Well, the girl only got a 3 day suspension and a talk form the 'DARE' cop that comes into our school system and luckily 4 years later that same girl is growing out of her temper tantrums for the most part but still is being pushed thru the school system. Back in the day, if a kid pushed or hit me trying to bully me for no reason, he was going down period and so were his buddies and if I got suspended, my Dad was fine with it telling the school if someone else picks on my kid while at school, my son has a right to beat them up. Nowadays, the school's do not condone violence of any kind and will NOT be tolerated at all and teach kids to turn the cheek and run to the nearest teacher. Both of my kids would never pick a fight and unfortunately, would never hit back since that is how the school brainwashed them against me telling them if someone ever hits them for no reason, to fight back unless he/she has a knife or gun which nowadays could very easily happen. I even remember in middle school an unruly boy 1 year older than me who was spoiled by mommy and daddy got dragged by his ears and hair all the way across the playground by our guidance counselor. Unfortunately, mommy and daddy always spoiled him rotten and he never learned and died about 15 years ago driving too fast drunk with the car his mommy and daddy bought for him going like 100 mph and flew off the road wedged in between two trunks of the tree.

When I was in school and acted up, which I did fairly regular, the teacher whipped my butt, or took a wooden ruler with the metal straight edge for drawing lines, and whacked my knuckles with the ruler. OUCH.
By the time I got home from school my dad already knew what I had done, small town word gets around like a grass fire out in the field on a windy day. To save time, I just cut a switch on the way in the house. I knew a good old fashioned ass whipping was coming to my butt. Ate standing up and slept on my tummy.
Some of the sheet my dad did to me would get a parent about 6 months in the poky. Today, I respect things and people. My one grandson has no respect for anyone, if I could get by with it, his butt would get warmed up pretty good. I told my ex-daughter-in-law, keep him in toe, or no bring him over.

Every year my Daddy would tell my teachers to whip me if I misbehaved and to tell him if I had because he'd whip me AGAIN when I got home.......I never got a single paddling in school.......but got plenty of whippings at home.....which I deserved.....but I was never "abused"....now they can turn you in to DFACS and get you in trouble.......sad state of affairs indeed!!
