What kind of "service" on a Valk would cost $1,200? Possibly hydrolock?????? Anyway, here is a really nice bike I just saw on CL. Dont know who's it is...blah, blah, blah.... but it is nice And, with the stock hard bags thrown in, it's probably worth what he's asking http://orlando.craigslist.org/mcy/2959346113.html

What kind of "service" on a Valk would cost $1,200? Possibly hydrolock?Huh???When I bought my rusty Valkyrie, the PO told me he had just had $1000 worth of carburetor work done, but perhaps that was just "lip service" I had to do a lot of work to it to get it ridable, and I didn't have any special tools, so I just took the forks off, loosened the caps, and took them to the dealer (I supplied the fork oil) and got them to drop in some Progressive springs. They didn't even change out the seals or anything. $300. -Mike

Cleaning the carbs by a dealer will definitely get you to the $1,000.00 mark.

"...will drift and break traction in first 3 gears..." I suppose it will on dirt like in the Valkyrie TV ad.

If "drifting" means that both wheels are kind of breaking loose, but you're still going where you want to go, they'll drift on roads like this: -Mike

1200 would get you a carb sync and a pair of tires at some dealers, maybe not even the sync. And they might put the tires on backwards. Hoser

Just got my first Valk a couple months back, a 99 I/S. The independent bike shop that the owner had put it for sale in (consignment) gave me the bill from the Honda dealer in town. $1200.00 for carb rebuilds, sync. and some other small stuff. The bike had been sitting and you know what that wonderful ethanol does after a while. Glad he had it done before he tried to sell it.
