Bought my wife a 2006 Honda Shadow Sabre 1100. The bike has a add on windshield. Around town is OK, but ride 50 mph or higher and the wind buffet is so bad, you cannot read signs. Most of the wind seems to come from under the shield. There is no adjustment, as I would like to tilt it back more, but would have to devise a way. I know there are different shields and add on lower deflectors, but has anyone cured these bikes or have any suggestions? My interstate spoils me. Thanks

You need lowers on that thing. Memphis Shades sells them. I think National Cycle does also. Here are the ones I made for my Spirit 1100 years ago.

I would start with fork deflectors. I did not notice any buffeting with my Sabre and National Cycle windshield. Don't remember how tall or wide it was, I'm 5/11" and just could look over it.

I have a smallish Slipstreamer Spitfire handle bar mounted windscreen on my Valkyrie. I saw this product which promises to reduce buffeting, eliminate water from coming up and around to the inside of the windscreen and increase the size of the "bubble" behind the windscreen. I like the idea of getting a little more comfort without riding behind a barn door sized windshield so I thought I'd give it a try. I installed the Micro-Edge trim a couple of days ago and it definitely makes the screen act like it's bigger than it is... it raised where the wind hits the top of my head by an inch or two... enough so that even at 85 or so there is no helmet buffeting or lift at all. The minimum order is three feet at about 12 bucks a foot... it seems expensive for what can be seen as fancy black rubber edging, but the shape is special and it does work. Here's the link. http://www.saeng.com/product.php?id=581&category=80PS. I plan to add the fork deflectors/light bar from Big Bike Things.... so with the micro edge and deflectors I should be pretty comfortable but still cool this summer.

This is how I tilted my Hondaline shield back. It reduced buffeting a great deal. I don't know how this mount might be like yours or not.

On my VTX 1300 the buffeting was bad so I made some fork lowers out of aluminum and Lexan. Made a huge difference. I was surprised that I could ride with a ball cap on at 70 mph and not loose it. I'm with the others comments, try the lowers.

Lowers should help and maybe tilt the screen forward. Both of these allowed for me to keep my hat on during a ride.

If Honda made an OEM windshield for this bike like they did the Valk, it will be money well spent to buy one. They usually engineer their shields well, much better than aftermarket. We bought my wife's Valk Standard with a Memphis Shades, terrible buffeting. Got an OEM used, problem solved.
