Well like the title says I just bought a gopro hero 2 (motorsports edition) this afternoon  cooldude cooldude and now I'm looking for a new sd card to put in it.  Some say a class 4 will work just fine and other say you need to have a class 10 (faster write speed card) for it to work correctly.  I'm looking at a minimum of a 16GB card since I figure that 11MP pictures is going to burn up some room and HD video takes quite a bit as well.

What I'm asking is opinions from actually users here that can say one way or another before I go ahead and spend the extra for the faster card if I really don't need it.  My kodak playsport uses an sd card and I run either sandisk class 4 cards or the cheaper lexar class 4 cards and haven't had any problems so far.  Granted when I do the editing on the video's sometimes I get a bit of skipping in the final product....maybe that's from the editing software more than it is from the actual card the footage originally came from.

All opinions greatly appreciated

As an owner of one of the old wide angle, units, I'm keeping my eye on the new "2" models. Killer vids! I've emailed them and they've always been responsive and solved my problems. I bet the high $$ card would make you a happy videographer!! cooldude

Just got the 2 Thursday. I put a 32 gig class 10 card in it. Instructions say a class 4 will work but the HD vids will like the 10 better. Michael: I might need a personal tutorial on video editing. You do a great job.

I picked up my hero2 off ebay this afternoon for 265 shipped......not to bad.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/110864865805?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_1816wt_932

The seller has several up for auction and a few with the buy it now option for 285+15 for shipping.

Guess I'll start looking for a class 10 card and see what happens.

I use the class 10 cards in mine (HDHero), have never tried anything slower, so not much help. You will definitely enjoy the camera.

i got deal on 32GB class 4.  seems to have lots of space and have had no problem with speed.  imho get the most GB you can, don't worry about speed, and get a good deal.  these are made by lots of companies and all of them are about the same so go for the "deal".

then when you lose it not such a big deal.  Wink

Any chance can you post a link to the site that you got these from.  I'm willing to wait a little while for the slow boat from china to arrive for that price.

imho get the most GB you can...

I don't remember what made me decide to get 16g instead of 32g... but now that I have used
the new go-pro (my older one only supported 2g) I think that if I ever came back from
a ride with a couple of 32g cards filled with a-picture-every-two-seconds, I'd just say
"the heck with it" and go back to recalling rides from memory  Roll Eyes ...

I just re-read the instructions and reset my go-pro from every-2-seconds to every-5-seconds.

My laptop would roll over and die if I fed it a 32g video to edit...
