great, well there goes my fuel millage, down another couple clicks on the miles per gallon, just to increase the price of corn.....  stupid, just plain stupid......  i should buy a Volkswagen diesel like a friend of mine did, that way i could easily switch to good old made in the USA natural gas.

First I heard of this.  The gas stations will still have to have E10 gas for lawnmowers, snowblowers, outboards, and other small engines from reading the disclaimer in the article, so just don't have to use E15 then.  I bet most gas stations then will be getting rid of 89 octane and just have 87 octane E10, E15, and 91 octane since the cost of adding another underground tank and nozzle at the pump would be too high priced.
I have used E85 in my flex fuel truck a long time ago when E85 was cheaper like 35% over E10 since the tax credit was there and now is gone so don't use E85 anymore since only about 20% cheaper.  The loss of 25-30% in fuel mpg now doesn't make sense to use E85 anymore since the price difference of E10 vs. E85 is only like 20% cheaper - we loss money on now using E85.

our small engine mechanic at work said the ethanol is wreaking havoc on our small engine carbs......he has replaced a couple of dozen this year alone.......my personal experience is that I had to change the carb on my Ryobi weedeater.....as soon as I bolted a new one on, it ran like new again........ Undecided cooldude

Anyone running a small engine like a lawnmower, snowblower, weed eater, roto-tiller, gas outboard, etc., should use 91 or 93 octane WITHOUT E10  anyways.  Personally, I run 91 octane ( no ethanol  E10 gas)  on only items not used a lot like my weed eater and rototiller.  My lawnmowers and gas outboards I run 87 octane E10 and know on day it will come back to haunt me.  I think E10 gas has caused issues on my snowblower only used a few times each winter already since had carb trouble the last few years and just doesn't run like it used to even after tinkering with the carb taking it all apart, spraying choke/carb cleaner all over with seafoam, etc. and also adjusting the slow and fast idle speed adjustment screws forever.

since i found a gas station two miles from my house that doesn't have ethonal in its 91 octane fuel, all my engines run on it, except the truck and van.  i filled my truck up with non ethonal a couple months ago, and my milage went to 15mpg verses the 12mpg i normally got from the E-10 crap. (sure, now i know someone will say i'm full of it, but that's what i got, same driving and everything.)

get some 2 cycle racing oil, like prewiut and mix it just like you would a 2 cycle and run it in your mowers and weed eaters,,the nitro will cancel the ethanol and lube all the o-rings and upper cylinder,,,

Alph, you're full of it - see someone had to say it - LOL  Grin

What kind of truck engine you have only getting 12 mpg, a 500 cu in. big block chevy or 454?  Must be an old dodge or ford then- LOL??

I drop 3-3.5 mpg when switching from E10 to E85 gas would be hard pressed to drop that amount from 91 non ethanol to 87 E-10 ethanol gas, but I guess anything is possible.  I tried running 91 octane non ethanol on my Valkyrie last year and it didn't make much, if any, difference in fuel economy and it ran like crap revving higher and wouldn't idle at 900-1,000 rpms consistently revving above 1,300 rpms at idle and then back down to 1000 rpms constantly.  Didn't notice much either in seat of my pants increase in power at take off either.

I had a 85 Chevy that would only get 10 mpg. Put a new tranny in it and it got 11 mpg lol. It was a sb 350. Sold it 6 yrs ago.

I have a '97 Expedition with the 5.4 motor.  I used to get 14 to 15 when I first bought it.  All I get now is 12 to 13 mpg.

Turning our food into fuel and making the price of both go up.......pure genius.....especially if your heavily invested in bio-fuels like Nancy Pelosi and her husband are.
