Leaving on a work trip @ 3:30 this afternoon.  Staying at the same place they held Inzane9.  If any of you Mountain riders are in the area, I'll be there until Friday, swing by and say hello, maybe do dinner/have a few pops.  I sure wish I was taking the bike with me.

Don't forget to take your O2 assistance.     I needed it when I was out there for the 1st few days.

I hear ya.  I always avoid running marathons while there, of course, I avoid that in MI and everywhere else as well.  Never could understand why anyone would willingly run with out a cop chasing them.

I hope the people that took over that hotel have
done the improvements that it needed the last time we
were there.

Psycho and I have an Aunt in Leadville, shes gotta be in her 90s and puts both of us to shame at that altitude.  10,000+ feet.  Of course she has been there for many years and has lungs like Superman. Grin I know what you mean about the 02, the Interstate was almost too heavy to get off the kickstand, but the ZX14 was ok.  Sure was fun.

I know the morning I left there I never stopped till I got home.   Run through temps in the dollar bill era and humid as hell.    Glad I was on the Chevy Trike, at least it had a top on it.     One town I went through in Nebraska had a temp guage on the Bank, at like 4:00 PM it read 105.   I stopped, gassed up, got a bottle of Gatorade, and took my shirt off and got it sopping wet.    Took off and 20 miles down the road it was totally DRY, except where my back made contact with the seat.

Went up there for work last summer - was a beautiful place.  Stayed for a week or so, didn't have any more problems with breathing than I do at sea level, but several of my co-workers who had made multiple trips said it was on the second and later trips that they noticed the effect.

Iv'e been here many times.  The last yime was the week before Inzane 9.  The place was a DUMP!!  They have made a lot of improvements.  The rooms have been updated and the bar is totally new, pretty nice.  It is a sports bar now.

Which hotel? I was at the holiday inn, I think. They shut off the boiler at night and didn't turn it back on by the time my boss was ready to take a shower in the morning. He didn't stay there all week - moved to a different place lol.

Yeah, I'm at the Holidump.  This place was the worst, new owners every 2 months.  Haven't tried the shower yet, but hopefully there will be hot water.  The last few times we stayed here, I checeked out and stayed at the ramada next door.

You're better off driving the extra miles up to Breckenridge and staying there; it's farther off of the I-70 corridor, the restaurants are better, the local microbrewery is famous, the girls are prettier, and it's definitely mellower all around. Smiley
Head up over Hoosier Pass and drop down into South Park (the REAL one) and just mope around the Colorado State Highways...groovy!

As far as dealing with altitude, here's the skinny:  H20...Hydrate, hydrate, and hydrate with aspirin on board for the first 48 hours after you arrive at >6,000 ft. elevation.  The worst thing flatlanders can do is consume adult beverages as soon as you hit the high country; you stand a high risk of developing altitude sickness with the accompanying nausea, headaches, malaise, and the tossing of chunks.
A word to the wise or you may be hooked to an I.V. for sure.
