When you have your alternator rebuilt by a local shop, don't expect them to clock it back properly before you install it.

One would think that they would have marked it to put it back the same way.  Nope tickedoff  And I didn't check it before I wrestled it back in.  Well, put everything back together and figured it out when my side cover wouldn't fit back on.  Of course, that's the last thing to put back on besides the seat.  Learned my lesson by having to remove and re install today.

The second thing I learned today was that Joe was right, you DON'T have to remove the center panel to get the alt out.  I would have pulled the 45 out and shot her if I had to do that twice too.  Or maybe shot myself for not checking first.  But really, would you have?

Has 31k on her.  From what I understand, a bad battery can over work/heat your alternator.  The connection between the rotor and windings was toast.  Blackram's got my old battery and tested it.  Had a bad cell.  I don't know how old that battery was, but had it on the tender most of the time.  Would always switch over to maintenance mode in a few hours.

I now am well versed in removal of that little bastard!

I'm wanting to replace the one on my blue bike that bike has  somewhere around 80,000 miles on it the speed-o has been replaced 2 or 3 times from crashing. I'll give you a shout when I get one and you can come to The Great State Of Tennessee and install it for me  Wink

Still trying to get my rebuilt alt installed. uglystupid2 Had to buy a new battery to the tune of $79.30 out the door. Cool The battery that came with the bike(Magna Power)showed "unstable" on the tester my local honda shop used. Shocked Knew in my heart the battery was most likely toast. The new one(Yuasa)should last me awhile. cooldude Must not be clenching my jaw right cause getting the alt back in is WAY more"fun"than gettin the old one out. crazy2 The Magna Power that came with the bike was overdue. Have the M/C 2 years come June 30th. Oh well-i'll try again tommorrow. RIDE SAFE.

Oh trust me I know where you're coming from after doing it two days in a row.  Threw the rag at the fat girl and went and worked in the yard for a while.  Came back, sat down and within a couple of minutes POP out she came.  I'm sure the next time I have to do it I'll be just as frustrated.  Honda could have made the bike an inch longer to make this easier!
