I replaced my petcock last year with a Golan and also installed one of their Mini Filters.  No issues at all.
Scroll down to the Mini Filter.

I've got the glass universal see-thru filter from o-reillys and haven't had any problems with it.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

I'm currently using a Fram auto fuel filter. Approximately 3" long x 1/2" diameter x 1/4" in/outlets. Sorry don't recall model number...I just bought one I thought would fit and it did. No problems
