Some how I lost all of my text. Anyway short version is I think I had a vapor lock problem. Stuck in traffic 30 minute without moving fan working as needed and no temp light showing. Bike died and after 20 minutes to cool started up and ran fine on the way home and this morning too. Oil and water fine. Any ideas?? TIA

Any modifications to the fuel lines? In line fuel filter or quick disconnect can cause that, I know. I also believe my Dan-marc was causing the same problem. One thing I have noticed is that the problem only happened when at normal operating temp and fuel level below 1/2 a tank. The hotter the outside temp the quicker it happens. As soon as I realized it was happening I would stop and fill her up and continue on down the road. The posts here are what clued me to the issue. Removed line additions and problem disappeared.

All stock, but petcock is all manual, no vaccum hose needed, and has been that way for many years. Temp was in lower 80s.

I did think about that to wizard. I just got too busy at the time to take a good look at my voltmeter. Just never had her shutdown before. I went to look at another I/S yesterday so maybe she was just pissst at me.

I have had a similar thing happen a couple times, after a long run with temps in the 90's and get in stop and go traffic the bike would drop a few cyls and start to bog down. First time it shut off and would not start for a few min. Tried something the next time it happened, flipped the fuel valve to off and reserve a couple times, then back to main. It picked up and ran fine after. Has happened a couple times since and flipping the fuel valve cures it. I believe it is some form of vapor lock. Only does it in traffic, 500 mile runs on the slab it does not do it.

I know once on I-10 in La. It took us 45 minutes to do 9 miles because of a wreck the bike never missed a beat. Would get to move maybe two or three hundred yards at a time maybe that was enough air to keep this from happening. I'll be takening the back roads home from now on until all the new construction is finished.
