Tried to use the horn while riding my 99 Tourer, no tute. (stock horn) I checked the fuse and it's ok. I turned on the key and hit the button and it worked. Tried it again and it didn't. I tried a bunch of times while riding. Most times it didn't work when I pushed the button. A few times it did. I'm pretty sure it's the horn button assembly. If it is the horn button can it be fixed without getting a whole new turn signal/ horn assembly? If it can, what can I do? If it's not the button assembly, what could it be? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Strange you should say this. I had the identical thing happen on my '00 std and when I finally had time to tear it apart, the thing worked. Couldn't recreate the problem after that but I still check when running high speed through the country. I chaired it up to dirty electrical contacts as I did check the fuses and connectors when it happened. Go figure...
If you find something, please post the follow up.

take the switch housing apart and clean those contacts and the blinker ones as well....lub with dilactic grease and all should be right again if its the switch. |

After cleaning the horn switch twice, the horn still didn't blow. Everything in the switch looked good. So I said, what the hey, let me try another horn. It worked. Glad it's fixed. A cheap volt meter from Harbor freight/Home Depot would have told you immediately what the problem was though. |

I have had Honda beepers "freeze" up and quit working. Maybe it's time to step up to a Stebel air horn.? Let em know your there! ???  |

The Stebel needs a relay because it uses more power. I dislike changing or cutting the harness, so I just crimped a mating spade lug to the end of a wire, plugged it in to the horn wire, and ran it back along the harness and under the seat where I put the relay and ran wires to power, ground and the Stebel from there. |
