A Good Way To Lose A Friend..

Well maybe someone I thought was my friend. He has a 2005 1800F and me my 1800R and we rode a lot last summer. Toward the end of summer he decides to run me and I won. He hasn't rode with me since and think it's silly. I guess I shamed him in front of his gf!

There was a nice ride last week so I called him out of the blue and just left a message to call me as I was going to invite him on the ride. I have still yet to hear from him which I think is childish!! Oh well, musta not been a friend after all, so that's my last call!!

Has that happened to anyone here??  BTW, I guess I shoud have called him an acquaintance.  Grin

I've had people get pissed off on rides and not speak to me or call me for a few months.

Then something happens out of the blue and the phone will ring.

Only problem was most of them were bar to bar Poker Run riders.

We'd pull into a tavern stop, I'd park, go inside, get my ticket punched or draw a card, and go back outside and find a shady spot and set down.     When they poured out of the Tavern, I'd get up and get ready to ride to the next one.

At the end, I'd have to go inside and stand waiting for the # or whatever they used to determine who got the $$$$.

acquaintance and friend = different meanings.  Some use the term "friend" too easily..... I trust VERY few to be considered a "friend", thats what I learned throughout the years.

Had the same experience when I whupped a friend who finally talked me into a drag race with his hopped up sporty back in the late seventies.  I rode a 1975 Kawasaki Z1B  at the time.  He eventually came around when he found out it was supposed to do that.   Cheesy  Hoser

Hell, I been spanking Squealy for years...  Now he finally got him a valk... and they are prety much dead heats.

I am estatic for him.

I got several buddies with faster bikes.  Even 1 Harley.  It don't matter.

I had a guy rode with us for a few rides after a guy on here asked me to hook up with him as he was new in town.  He rode a few times and then quit returning calls.  He said we rode too fast. uglystupid2  Ya'll that ride with me... KNOW that I am a putt putter. angel

He even traded his 1800 VTX on an 1800 Wing and I never got to see it.

Oh well.  His loss.

An acquaitance who happens to ride moved in 2 doors north of me. We made a couple of rides last year together with some other folks. St. Patricks day he invited to go on a short C M A ride to help with donations to the next county up from me for their food pantry. Which i gladly did. Ride captain put me on some roads i've never been on before. Very enjoyable ride very enjoyable people very enjojable lunch. We were gathered up right back where we started saw him go bye and he hasn't acknowledged or spoken to me since!! Seen him outside a couple of times started down there and he went back inside. uglystupid2 Oh well-RIDE SAFE.

Yeah some people are strange. I have met some like that and they want you to help their cause but if I wanted help...forget i! A similar thing happened to me when a poor family- no insurance (renting) got burned out, nothing to save...I mean nothing! She worked with my wife and had a brother with autism living with her. We helped get her appliances, clothes shoes and everything  you can imagine...with NO help from all the bikers I've helped!  Roll Eyes

Yep it's all about them and their bike. I  forgot to mention that he also bragged about how many HP he had and on and on. He also bragged on his hypercharger (knowing they're most for looks) and I had a lot better air intake and pipes but I just agreed with him  Smiley and just as that guy exited off - that was it with him too!  2funny

Ah... screw 'em dude.  You can make new friends.  You meet the NICEST people on a Honda...

Side note... A lot of the guys in this club right here will help you out, without ever meeting you.  I have had people send me parts in the mail because I inquired about where I could find one to buy... I have had people drive me parts when I've needed them.  And I have had people sell me stuff, and ship it before I paid.  I have never been screwed over (yet) by anyone on this board.

I frequent a lot of boards... and there really isn't one like this one.

Well my best Bud John and I used to play one upmanship occasionally, I got him into Valks after a year of badgering.  Think finally he agreed to ride my Valk just to shut me up, and one ride was all it took.  He was a Honds 600 crotch rocket rider.  A few years later I found a killer deal on a Hayabusa, and was set to buy it when I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer.  I turned him on to the deal as I didnt know what my outcome would be, and the deal was too good to waste.  After I recovered I picked up a cherry ZZR1200 at a bargan price and thought I could hang with the Busa.  He would constantly show me that wasnt the case.  It was all in good fun, and the ZZR was no slouch either, but then the ZX14 came into my life, and that was the end of that.  We are still BFFs 2funny and dont see a motorcycle or anything else changing that.   No matter how bad anyone or anything is, there is always someone or something badder somewhere.  True friendship is too valuable to lose over trivial crap.
