ONE SMART 21 YEAR OLD!

This was written by a 21 yr old female who gets it. It's her future she’s worried about and this is how she feels about the social welfare big government state that she’s being forced to live in! These solutions are just common sense in her opinion.

This was in the Waco Tribune Herald, Waco , TX Nov 18, 2010

Put me in charge . . .

Put me in charge of food stamps. I'd get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I'd do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we'll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and document all tattoos and piercings. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get tats and piercings, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks?

You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your "home" will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a "government" job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the “common good..”

Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules.. Before you say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin their "self esteem," consider that it wasn't that long ago that taking someone else's money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people's mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

AND While you are on Gov’t subsistence, you no longer can VOTE! Yes that is correct. For you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Gov’t welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job.

A bit too simplistic to get me on board.

However, there is one idea that, IMO, is the basis for much of what is going on.... Before you say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin their "self esteem," consider that it wasn't that long ago that taking someone else's money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.

It wasn't so much about taking money for doing nothing as much as it was receiving a hand out that was the stigma.  I remember struggling when I left home at 20 and then lost my job.  My Dad's friend asked if I would consider applying for welfare (the common term for it back then)?  My Dad blurted "NO HE WOULD NOT, not as long as I'm alive!".  He didn't want the embarrassment that went along with it, as far as he was concerned.  He didn't even let me apply for unemployment insurance.  I didn't want to move back home so I took a job as a car salesman, which was so out of my element at that time, but it paid the bills and taught me about dealing with the public.

I said that for a joke, but I like her policy! Yes I think the word "shame" has disappeared in this society. When I was young i had lost my job and about starved to death...no joke! I would eat for $1 a week when pot pies were on sale and would not take food stamps...now this is my story and not talking about other people. However to this day it makes me sick seeing how some ppl take advantage and fill their buggies slap full of T-bone and ribeye steaks, black angus btw, and all kind of ice cream and just name it! I couldn't afford to pay for one buggy.. yet it's so easy for them to give the cashier paper money..oh wait I forgot they have plastic now!

Again I'm not talking about ppl that really need them but just the abusers.  Angry

A 19-year-old got elected to Canada's parliament in the last federal election.  Sometimes being the candidate for the right party at the right time is all it takes to be elected in Canada.

I don't. I said "probably" not definitely. But I seem to recall seeing it before and if it's the same rant it was taken from a newspaper column by a male writer. Since I haven't confirmed anything I'll allow for the possibility that it was written by a 21 year old woman. It's not as though it's a very good piece of writing anyway. It's a cranky rant. Anyone can pull off one of those.

See here's thing thing about the internet; someone will often take something like that (which is otherwise less than noteworthy) and attribute it to someone you might not expect to have authored it which in turn generates a buzz through viral emails and discussion board postings (like this one).

I can't believe I'm agreeing with you but it is true.  Shocked A while back I received an audio email about a doctor on the air talking about Obama's health care plan like letting ppl over 70 die if it's an expensive surgery and all kind of scare tactics. I googled it and it was a scam like I thought!

Well at least this has roots in fact, as in someone actually wrote it. And while it's not Faulkner the points are valid. But it's corrupted by this need to make it noteworthy by attributing it to an unlikely source. As if the opinion of a man who served his country is less valid simply because it's more predictable. That kind of crap really chafes me the wrong way.

Anvil,

Now that the weak buzzard hasn't been around for a while have you taken it upon yourself to be the forum pool pooper? If you want to throw doubt at something, why not at least take the time to research your drive by opposition?
21, 42, 84, 12, male or female, who cares. It's the content that's the issue.

Just a thought,

Mark

Back to task....

Although I see her point, I too agree that it may be too simplistic.

My parents were on welfare; food stamps and we never even owned a car.  We didn't have fancy clothes or anything like that.  We bought food with our food stamps.

My parents went back to live in the Dominican Republic when I was 15, and I stayed here and have worked every single day ever since and NEVER took a handout.

I graduated high school, did 4 years in the Marines, I have made a career for myself and have struggled at times raising 6 girls.

My mom suggested I get food stamps once and I almost snapped at her, but realized where her mind was and just told her, "if I can walk, I can work."

Today I own a house is a lake front gated community, a van, 2 motorcycles (one of which is a very fast Black Valkyrie) and have 6 wonderful daughters.  My daughters don't even know what welfare is.  I have taught them that in order to have anything in life you have to work your ass off.

I have known the welfare leeches and have had no problem bringing to light what they are doing to the fabric of this country.  The sad thing is that our government does nothing to discourage their behavior.  Our government punishes the successful, hard working people that keep this country alive.  Our government is the biggest enabler.

The notion of "a government for the people" has been distorted.  Because it is only SOME of the people that are benefiting from the government.  And who is paying for their benefit?? You and I...the hard working Americans that pay our taxes and work every day.

The 21 year old has the right idea, but the problem is that she needs to find another 535 people with the same views to get elected into the Senate and House.

pBrain,

Wow, awesome post. You and those like you are what made and built America into the best country the world has ever seen. Sadly, too many think they're entitled to what they want simply because they exist.

Thank you for being an outstanding American patriot,

Mark
