Ok, so the old owner of my IS was a putz. He installed a K&N filter (good idea) but then proceeded to modify the crankcase ventilation "old-school" by installing a filter mounted on top. Great idea for a dragster but produces one hell of a stinky smell that gets onto my dress clothes when riding. (I work in a fish tank style office)...
Shouldn't that tube go directly to the air cleaner some how? I need a schematic.
When I replaced the alternator I attempted to find the routing position for that tube (not the drool tube) but could not really tell since it's aftermarket crap. I love to modify stuff, but this bike is cursed near perfect the way Honda made it. I want to put it back like they intended.

ANY help would be appreciated my friends.

I actually found what I'm looking for thanks to wolfman's post: http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,41617.0.html

In the second picture, when viewing from the right hand side, there is a 1" rubber tube which goes to a box behind the ignition and connects to the crank case. I don't have that piece on mine. Is that a separate piece from the airbox?

I believe it is a rubber tube that attaches to a nipple in the side? of the airbox. Can't remember for sure how it attaches. Haven't had my airbox out in 7 years. Could look at the parts list at HDL and find the parts blowup. Gonna have to order the tube anyway cooldude

The crankcase ventilation tube come up from the crankcase and attaches to a black plastic box just behind the ignition switch - as you mentioned. At the top of this plastic box another hose exits and runs up into the air box. there is a third hose that exits the bottom of the plastic box and is a drain for condensates.

I have a tube that looks like a J that attaches to mine and goes out under the bike. NO problem at all and only infrequently do you get any whiff at all. The little cleaner thing is enough to gag you with the smell but done this way is no problem.

Ok, so all the parts were gone, so I made my own hose set up using the microfiche from HDL. Immediate relief from the smell. Awesome. 300 miles this weekend and no more stink. Thanks for the help!
