I pulled my first airbox to install a Dan Marc shut off valve, not too bad. I noticed the intakes tubes are glued in place. The cement has dried over the years.  Do I need to re-glue the tubes to the airbox or is the fit against the air box tight enough so I don't have to deal air leaks in the future. Thanks for your input!

Don't bother trying to reglue them, nobody does and I sure don't. If you look closely you'll see there are notches for alignment on the airbox, might want to see they're in place. Other than that, just make certain your clamps are tight on the carbs and that none of the rubber intakes have rolled up on the backside of the carbs. They have a tendency to catch on the back lip of the carb and roll inside.

To go along with what John said about the tubes rolling inside on the back, I use an inspection mirror and a tool used to break the seal between radiator hoses and the nipples they fit over on radiators, thermostat housings and water pumps.  Looks like a long awl with a 90* bend and a screwdriver handle.  I run the tool inside the tubes to roll the lip back out.

People are more passionately opposed to wearing fur than leather because it's safer to harass rich women than bikers.

The best guess over the past 12 years that I've been here has been that the cement is used during assembly to ensure alignment and speed the assembly line.

As others stated, no need to worry about re-sealing the tubes.
