And what is it they are fixing "gratis"? More importantly.... HOW?
Seems like another opportunity for them to cause more damage and havoc.

Don't paint all the dealers with the same broad brushstroke. Some are just in it for the money, others are in it because they love motorcycles. There must be other Honda dealers in your area and the others may be better than this one.
But doing your own maintenance is the best. You know it's done and done right.

They removed the pipes to change the brake pads?
Run away from that dealer.

I've had issues with these people (Hollink Honda in Spencerport, NY) in the past. They used to be the go-to place years ago. About 5-10 years ago they expanded and I started noticing a change in personnel and attitude. They now have a sign up that says they reserve the right to refuse to work on bikes more than 15 years old. They replaced the stud they broke and all is good now. Hope I never have to go back there. I'm not trying to paint all "stealers" as bad, just this one from personal experience.

With telephone help of members on this board (Chrisj and 3W) and the shop talk GIJoe, I was able to change my first front brake in only several hours the other side took 8 minutes. If I can do it you can also Zero mechanical experience or aptitude. The rear took about 15 minutes as I did a really good cleaning job on that The hardest part was spreading the calipers before putting everything on the rotor again if I remember correctly. Now electrical stuff I am REALLY clueless about. I can add math questions to that list thanks to Marty. You are just down the road from some really great folks BigD (Darrell) and LittleD (Deb) give em a call and maybe D can learn you how to do some of this stuff

Yup, the "D's" are maybe 10 minutes down the road if that. Spoke to them a few times but we have yet to hook up. I have tools and am pretty apt mechanically. I'm actually pretty good with electrical stuff too. Just getting lazy in my old age. Gotta convince the wife I need a lift and that adapter that mounts on the bike.

Luckily for me I have a GREAT dealer here in northern Indiana. Lake City Honda in Warsaw, have had nothing but outstanding work performed by them.

Big ugly,
Try wimpys for general stuff...on ridge road.
If need a dealer, try batavia cycle on route 5.
We were not impressed with hollinks.

Got one of them here in town too. But oh, what they charge. But it's good to have a dealer with good mechanics nearby.

you can't paint all dealers with the same brush, i had new tires put on at Schaumburg Honda in nothern Ill. and they did an excellent job. although they do a lot of Honda Goldwings, they seem to know what they were doing on the Valk.....

Again, I'm not trying to paint them all, just this particular one I've had steady contact with over the last 30 years or so.
