When I think of the big strides in technology that lets us see this bullcrap in HD big screen,  I say, what a waste!

I never watched reality shows, comedies with canned laughter, and the epitome of sleaze, the Jerry Springer show.

Since I no longer have cable, I'm not even tempted to watch them.  However, Netflix movies are getting a little old to me with a few exemptions like the Jessie Stone series with Tom Selleck.

Also some foreign movies seem to have some substance to them .

On Netflix online take a look at

Lillyhammer

Inspector Lewis

Kingdom

Doc Martin

Wire In The Blood

When I was stuck with two homes for 3 years, one of the first expenses to go was Dish.  It's been almost 4 years without it, and I was close to $100.00 a month.  Almost a price of a Valk!!

If you are getting bored with Netflix, have you watched Breaking Bad???  One of the finest drama's to come around in a long time.  Plus it is based in Albuquerque, so occasionally get to see some nice SW scenery.

If you choose to watch it, be warned......It is almost as addictive as the drug in the show.  Very powerful.  And make sure you watch it from episode one.

Paul, I've written them down and will watch them.  As mentioned, you might try watching all three of the Jessie Stone movies. they come up easily in browse.

I've watched the beginning of Breaking Bad and a few other episodes including the hydrochloric acid in the bathtub. Breaking Bad is not bad, a good series.

For excellent photography and a neat if unusual plot, you might try watching ' Cherry Blossoms'  ,a German film with both German and Japanese characters in it.  Unlike a lot of Hollywood films,  time is taken to 'flesh out' the characters and the plot.

Kids nowadays don't understand most of us on this board grew up watching 5-6 channel black and white TV's.  Boy, I still remember around 1980 or so when about 10 getting a 25" console COLOR TV with the old rotor box on top to adjust the antenna on top of the house to get in those 5-6 channels somewhat clear.  Then a few years later came for us anyways cable TV all for around 30 bucks per month and like 50-60 channels.  Now, the price of directv and dishnetwork is crazy high even though may get 200+ channels, only about 10-15 channels are ever worth watching, all the rest is garbage as far as I am concerned.  What I do is keep switching back and forth between dish and directv every 2 years to save 20-30 bucks off my bill the first 12 months and get socked the full 80-90 bucks the next 12 month committment agreement.  I am about ready to switch in June back to dish from directv since 2 years is up soon.  Dish does have now a hopper receiver which seems pretty neat and useful that directv does not have.  So, worth trying especially since I really cannot justify spending 80-90 bucks every month just to watch 15 or so channels.  Ticks me off though that the 3-4 I really want they make you get the top 200 or top 250 just to get those 3-4 channels I like to watch.

I remember that our first TV set in the family was a 10 INCH b&w.  Now I have a 47 inch internet ready LG.  Wow!

I have Frontier internet and landline. Stay away from Frontier, their billing is crap!     Almost every month I have to call them to straighten out my bill, it always goes up.  The alternatives in this area are even worse. I was thinking of going cell instead of landline but my pay as you go cell is simple and cheap.  I don't want to complicate things especially with Verizon as I've had trouble with their billing too and couldn't straighten it out.

+1 on breaking bad.  I got hooked on it real quick.  Also liked trailer park boys.
