one of the nagging things needing to get done was the outdoor bench needing a lil TLC. before and after pics, the wood was to weather checked so it soaked up too much stain Undecided

Bleach, like javex first, then stain. May still work.

Bleach then conditioner.......then stain, trust me...old or very soft wood needs conditioner before staining

will try, but the color is growing on me (like a fungus) it should have been a stain about the color of cherry or so, turned out to be walnut  2funny
